(Please look down to skip to the actual review.) Recently, While in the UK staying with some friends I had the joy of using one of these types of irons, it was the T-Fal version. I was immediately impressed! I was able to iron all seven outfits I had shrink wrapped for the trip in a matter of a mere hour or so and not to mention it was a very crisp professional press. In my mind at that moment I knew I couldn’t go back to having a regular iron again. I offered to iron every ones clothes. It was actually fun and relaxing to hear the constant “haaaw” and “shish” of the iron and I press out even the most stubborn wrinkle with ease. The mistress of the house made smart remarks and tried to make it seem like I had a problem or something because I liked ironing so much. But my friend who also happened to be a gadget guy; like myself. He got it. He even gave me a run down of the iron and how he himself had tried one and fell in love with it and thus he also had to make the purchase. He paid around 300 pounds, which at the time had to be around 600 or so US dollars. It was around that moments my dream of having one evaporated like the steam, “hiiissssssss”. See I am not the wealthiest person alive, we saved up for the trip from the US to see my wife’s sister graduate in the UK for a about a year, so a 600 dollar or even a 500 dollar iron was completely out of the question. Did I mention I’m married with kids….yeah.. So, no money to spare. Anyway to the Rowenta So the day comes when I have to depart, I woke up early and used the iron one last time to iron everyone’s clothes, and underwear….and socks. I just didn’t want the experience to end knowing that I would probably never again feel that type of power in my hands. I remembered comparing it to the feeling one might get when switching to their first luxury car and realizing “ wow this truly is a whole new level of car, how can I ever go back to a regular car?” Returning to the states was depressing. I filled my regular iron up with water and was immediately disappointed. I had to hold the iron under the tap at “just the right angle” and if I tried to fill it up too fast then the darned bubble would form and knock the water away from the hole like it was protecting something. The iron hissed but it was so weak, like an old man trying to box and show he’s still got it. And of course I got that “oh you were too fast” water stain, when I put it on my clothes thinking it was ready. So I lived in this mediocrity for weeks dreading the task of ironing. Dreading the “morning hustle” or the weekend “get ready”. But my birthday was around the corner and my wife apparently has found the iron online for under 300 dollars so little did I know that my life was about to change. A bit before my Birthday I got a text from AMAZON stating that the Rowneta DG8520 had been delivered along with a picture of the iron. “NO…she..didn’t” I said in my head. I was elated! I was at work in my “shared space” cubicle and yelled out loud. But the iron was 4 days early and she would not let me have it, even though I knew about it. She said that Amazon had made I mistake to send me that text but that she would not let me use the iron until my Birthday. This was the most horrible punishment that one can do to a man. Make him wait whilst his salvation it but a room away in an Amazon box. For 4 days I continued to iron, the regular way. By the 4th day I couldn’t take it as I got up that morning I did not have the energy to carry on but I continued with the knowledge that soon; soon it would all be over. On my Birthday I was up at the crack of dawn with Amazon box in hand I tore through the box with all the malice a man forced to wait for 4 days could must… finally the dream was real I couldn’t wait to try it out. It was better than expected. This iron actually beats the T-Fal model I was using in most all ways, expect one which I will explain latter. THE REVIEW The Rowenta is a nice looking piece of equipment. The bulky yet sturdy base gives it the look of a true household appliance. All of the parts and pieces are high quality and well made. The water container is sturdy and smart ,clipping on and off with ease, yet staying put when transported. The mesh steam-cord is a nice touch and seems standard yet sturdy and definitely long enough for you to leave the unit in one place (say bathroom sink or on the washing machine) and have the ironing happening near by. You could also just put the unit on the ground under the iron and have plenty of cord to iron depending on your size of course. If having the base on the ironing board is more your style then this is easily accomplished as well. The one gripe I have is the power cord. It does not retract and just sticks out there with no real winding mechanism; maybe that is why it is not in the photo. That one picture which may appear to be the retractable cord is actually a scoop that’s used to clean hard water. The T-Fal had a little cubby at least to tuck away the cord. Oh well , maybe that’s where the other 200 dollar went. ;-) It works well though, even better than the T-Fal. This irons steam level is awesome and constant. Immediately I tested out several pairs of pants that I had not worn in quite some time due to the difficulty I had ironing them and the Rowenta ironed them like they were T-Shirts. You can even iron the very top of your pants with impressive ease, even the belt loops and zipper area are no match. I ironed a velvet smokers jacket while I was on the way out the house, while it was still on my body and it got every wrinkle out (of course I ironed mostly from the inside with the iron /steam pointed away from me even then the steam quickly fogged up my whole situation) there is a tremendous amount of steam they did good here. And while I would not recommend ironing clothes while they are on you I have ironed a couple of my wife’s shirt as she walked up to me while I was ironing by simply pointing the iron at her and pressing the steam button. This iron could iron your King-size bed in 2 minutes because it produces so much heat and steam. That’s how real this iron is , I did it. If you are one who appreciates the simple yet finer things in life and like to spend your time wisely I suggest you get one of these.

Awesome Ironing System

I hesitated due to the price, but glad I followed through. The iron uses ordinary tap water which is great for 95% of the US I guess. However, I am also going to share bit of information for those who may not have tap water. I live rurally and we have cistern water. Cistern water, for those who do not know, is rain water collected into your cistern and pumped through a filter into the house. Now, the iron manual (which you should read without fail) says, “no rain water”. It also says “no distilled water”. I called Rowenta Service and he told me to use Spring Drinking Water. (It is less than 1.50 for a gallon.) He also told me “do not use distilled water”. Distilled water does not contain the minerals necessary for robust steam and the iron has a harder time creating said steam. This is likely why some reviewers say they get water leakage from the sole plate. Anyway, I purchased the spring water and ironed away without spitting and had he best steam ironing experience of my life. The iron out-performed my actual Rowenta handheld steamer when I steamed a hanging blouse. So treat yourself to this iron…especially if your husband has spent a bundle on golf clubs.

Works Beautifully!

I love this iron! The first one I got, the steam wouldn't run but for a minute or two. I took me a moment to figure out the pump wasn't working and I sent it in for a replacement. I received said replacement and absolutely love it! It works so nicely! I sew for myself and my family and I need a good iron with lots of steam - this does not disappoint! My boys have dress pants and sometimes you get "railroad tracks" down the center leg seam if you're not careful, the iron took them right out and pressed a beautiful crease. I sew clothing often enough to have wanted a gravity stream iron, I think this is a much better option for a home sewer.

AMAZING! Cut my ironing 3/4 the time

Rowenta Perfect Pro Steam Station for Clothes. DG8624 1800 Watts (Dark blue handle and dark blue tank) Stainless Steel Soleplate and interior tank, 1.1 Liter Capacity Removable Tank, Iron- Steamer AMAZING! Cut your ironing to 3/4 the time. I loved my regular type, top of line Rowenta iron (that stays on instead of keep shutting off) and --then I dropped it on tile floor and the plastic water container cracked. To replace it would be around $100. I researched irons and discovered the steam station--It has been so worth it even though it costs a bit more. It is amazing because 1) it heats up fast 2) the motor is not disturbing-- is NOT loud: (THE QUIET MOTOR only turns on when you press the steam button--and runs about 5 seconds every once in awhile ) (I can iron for hours with toddler taking naps 6 feet away in the same room (The Motor: I have only used regular irons and didn’t know that steam systems (with table top tanks) without the “motor” have to be placed higher than the iron so the water flows) 3) the INTERIOR STAINLESS STEEL PARTS of the tank takes 1 liter of TAP WATER: --fill anytime while ironing--do not use distilled water (or 1/2 of regular and distilled--to use up your extra supply of distilled jugs) 4) a light comes on when a simple calcium cleaning needs to be done (watch Youtube video) 5) the STEAM PLATE is fantastic with so many holes--when you press the steam button--a flood of hot mist comes out--no drips, in one second creases in fabric disappear-and the steam button you push is so lightly sprung-your finger never gets tired pushing the button (which was a complaint with a different iron I used to have) 6) the unit is NOT BULKY--it seems like it would be--but the whole unit is easy to lift up to store or move--if you have a laundry room closet--you could literally keep the unit in the closet, pull up your ironing board and iron right there or on the counter and not move the iron base unit at all 7) the iron itself IS SO LIGHTWEIGHT and streamline--you aren’t pushing and lifting a heavy, bulky iron equipped with a water tank and heating element parts. 8) if you love yourself and love your time--try out this steam system Youtube: watch the few videos about this steam iron system: (the very hard to find) sole plate accessory is recommended: Rowenta ZD7900D1 - ironing accessories

A great product for anyone looking for a fast, high-quality ironing job (and willing to pay a little extra for it)

Very pleased with this iron. It's expensive, large, and heavy, but it works like a dream. Cuts down the time needed to iron a shirt by more than half, which was one of the main reasons that I bought this iron. Easily gets rid of wrinkles and leaves shirts looking professionally pressed, which was the second of the main reasons that I bought it. I've only had the iron for a few days, and haven't experienced any possible quality concerns. The base plate is high quality with a huge number of holes for the steam. Lacking a water reservoir on the iron, it is lighter than a regular iron, but still has a good weight and a solid feel. I was looking for a quality machine that left my clothes looking better and being finished faster than with a regular, sub-$100 steam iron, and I was not disappointed.

This is the best quality iron . Even if you don’t like to iron this iron can make you change your mind. I love to iron. Yes you heard me right. I love using this iron. I iron everything with this iron including socks and underwear. It saves you so much time on your ironing an your clothes look like they were professionally done.

Amazing Iron

I was skeptical when reading many reviews stating that it's really quick and effective. After trying to use it, can confirm that it's true. Love the product. Hopefully it'll last a long time since it's an expensive one. If you have big hand might be a bit hard to use since the handle is on the smaller side, and the wire could be quite hot. Just need to be a bit more careful.

Ironing has never been so enjoyable

I cannot say enough about how much I love this iron. I regularly have piles of laundry, including bed sheets, which are usually time consuming and frustrating to iron. But this steam iron has made such ironing tasks heavenly. The actual iron is surprisingly lightweight, and due to the amount of steam generated a light slide across the fabric immediately removes all wrinkles, with no effort at all. When the iron is locked onto the base station, the entire system is so very easy to lug around, as well. Such an iron is a must-have for anyone who faces a daunting pile of laundry regularly. You will wonder how you managed to do without it all this time.

I got this steam station after seeing the amazing price at INCREDIBLE LISTINGS on Amazon.ca. I did a bit of research on what the consumers said about the product and I was thrilled. I have no regrets whatsoever. I always wanted a serious iron but never opted for a system like this. So here is my review. I have other Rowenta products such and upright steamer and a travel steamer/iron. I am very pleased with both so the outcome of the quality of this item was not something that I questioned. When I received the item I was SUPER IMPRESSED that I got such a good deal for such quality item. Surely enough I put this baby to the test. I began with silk items which normally I find on cheaper irons with an all stainless steel plate tend to get dirty very easily. Not this machine! It glided well and the steam that it emits is very powerful and any creases vanish in seconds. You do not have to redo anything once it warms up this iron system delivers as a professionally ironed garment at the cleaners. Then I did sheets and here it delivered as well. I have not done anything heavy such as jeans yet but I plan to do so in the coming days which I will post. So far I have not checked the wattage for this machine but other reviewers said it was 1800 so it is heavy duty. It does have an ECO button which Rowenta says saves 20% of the energy. It is quiet portable and the iron locks onto the base from the front and back. The electrical cord unlike other more advanced models does NOT retract but has to be rolled up. I wish this iron came in a case. That would have been a plus for storage but that does not affect its performance. I have a home distiller which is a great thing to have when one needs to iron a large amount of garments. Story Short I am very impressed by this Item and totally thankful to INCREDBLE LISTINGS for having made it available at such a great price. Will certainly recommend it to anyone who wants some serious ironing system that delivers.
