Snap-in internal barrier does not hold up to cat attacks

The most noticeable problem we have had is that as soon as the cat gets locked in he tries to fight his way out and quickly manages to take off the snap-in barrier, despite it being firmly snapped in place. This has happened 3 times already. It is not a killer problem because the barrier is only really needed before you close it up, so the cat tearing it off does not mean he can escape from the closed carrier. But this component of the carrier can use a redesign. In the meantime, I may experiment with gluing it in place. Other than that we (and the people at our vet) really appreciate the unique design of the carrier and how well it works getting the cat in and out. As others have mentioned, it does seem a bit too flexible and thin which creates a sense of flimsiness, but it has not caused any actual problems such as the handle pulling off, etc, so I am not subtracting any points for that. OTOH, our cat is less than 1/2 the maximum rated capacity of the carrier. I can't speak for what would happen at full rated capacity. Overall, I would probably buy it again simply because the overall design of how you load the animal in is so superior, but it could be a little better in some particulars.

Ignore Any Negative Review - This Carrier Is Great

I deliberated on getting this carrier because a few reviewers thought it was flimsy and wouldn't hold up. NOT the case at all. Yes, it is a bit thinner plastic than another carrier I had, but it is fine - no issues. The great option with this carrier, that other ones do not have, is the pull out door. Period. I have a cat that does not go to the vet. The one vet said he could handle her, and after a lot of cat screaming and growling the vet and 2 nurses gave up and said get her out of here. Now she gets a tranquilizer first before going to the new vet, but even with that she is not coming out of that cage without a major battle. Now all I have to do is pull out the drawer and the vet can check her. She's (relatively) happy and no one is getting hurt as she lays in her bed. Super design and easy to put together if you have any skills and read the instructions.

Perfect height for my cats. Arrived perfectly. Quick tip: when sliding top of carrier on, pull open bottom first in order to make space for alignment. Will write another entry after the vet visit.

Innovative carrier

I will be moving soon and will take my cats with me. Some of my cats are tame and can be handled easily. Some are gentle creatures that simply do not want to be touched. This carrier (I purchased the large size) should make the process of confining the cats for travel less stressful for both the cats and me. I did try the carrier out when I received it and it seems to work as described by the manufacturer. I agree with a reviewer who commented that the carrier is not as sturdy as it could be. But I think it will hold up just fine. My indoor cats are not aggressive. Could a frightened feral damage the carrier? Possibly. But I won’t be using this carrier for that type of cat, nor would I recommend it for an adult cat bent on escaping., I will be ordering several more large carriers. I do have kittens that will fit in the smaller size carrier but the large ones are more useful since they accommodate all size cats.

Excellent carrier

Husband put together easily. Used carrier to take our 15 yo 12 lb cat to the vet. This was the best experience we have ever had getting her into and out of this while at the vet. She does not do well at the vet and goes on full attack mode. Today she had no chance. Just slid open and cover her with a towel. Even the vet was happy. We bought the larger size carrier. Kitty had plenty of room. Highly recommend.

My husband put this together so honestly I can’t say if it was easy or not. this carrier is wider than my old one. Very hard to get thru my normal way I leave the house. Need to lift it waist high. With a 14 pound cat that’s very heavy for me. But vets seem to like it. Slide in and out. Lol.

Gentle carrier!!!

I really do like this carrier and my poor cat sot of does as well. LOL He hates being transported and would always refuse to enter a front loading carrier, thus a top loading one. I pad it with a couple old bath towels and he feels right at home. It's well constructed and very easy to assemble. My Vet and his Techs all wanted to know where I got it and how much it was. They had never seen one with a pullout drawer before! Now the reason for only 4 stars. They could have taken more time while extruding the bottom of the carrier or had better quality control. If you look at the attached photos, you will see the side strengthening supports were poorly molded and trimmed. Overall a great carrier though

Easy to use

The vets love this type of carrier! Easy to get animals in and out. Be sure to check that wing nuts are tight. They do loosen up with use.

Things are on the easier end for me as I have a 3 pound kitten, but the whole thing is made from plastic and seems like it might not be sturdy for a bigger pet. The sliding is a good, but trying to lock the gate is not smooth. You need to take some time to make sure the lock is aligned otherwise it will just fall off.

Easiest Carrier Ever!

It was getting really hard to put our elderly cat in his old carrier and he has a lot of health issues so we wanted something that didn't add to the stress of his trips to the vet. This carrier is amazing! It's so easy to get him in and out of and our Veterinary clinic loves it too!! Initially a bit irritating to put together, but it didn't take long and it's super sturdy. We have four cats so I expect to get a lot of use out of it. Very happy with our purchase!
