Great Central Compartment, Dirties Easily and Quickly, Bigger Than It Looks
Like and dislike certain aspects of this backpack. I ordered the Timbuk2 Blink Pack in Jet Black for a recent trip to Asia, I used it as my "personal item" on the plane. Like: > LOTS of space, the front pocket opens up like a suitcase and makes packing a breeze. > Very deep central compartment and specialized laptop area in the back, for TSA/security check ease too! > The water bottle pocket at the front easily fits a 40 oz hydroflask > Overall build is well made and sturdy, zippers are excellent and there are many thoughtful pockets, you'll never have to reach and hunt for your cell phone with this bag > Top haul loop is very sturdy and thick, you can hang this thing from anything pretty easily Meh: > I'm a petite female (5'2") and it definitely is veering on the side of "too big" if I over-stuff it > It's also a very long bag, it reaches down toward my butt and covers my entire back. > When it gets over-stuffed, it gets super big and the compression straps don't actually "compress" - I think they should've added more straps on the bottom to compress the whole thing rather than just at the top > If I put the water bottle in (or even my Macbook) I feel like the weight isn't as well distributed as it could be, my back will start to hurt when I carry this bag > Chest strap is far too thin to actually use for me, I didn't enjoy this feature much > On the plane, pulling this thing out with my camera equipment, laptop, etc was a burden because it was just too big to be an "under airplane seat" backpack. (that's probably my mistake though) > The bag looks sleek and shiny like it won't attract dust or dirt, but somehow dust AND dirt stick SUPER easily too it? And it's hard to wipe clean - I don't understand how the backpack material can attract so much direct so easily Overall for the price this is still a quality backpack and comes with the lifetime Timbuk 2 warranty so I'd say go for it if you're considering it. I could still return it but I think I've fallen in love with the fact that it opens like a suitcase. I normally really love front loading backpacks (like from the top vs zipping all the way around) but the ease of adding clothes into this bag still makes it a great weekender bag for me. As long as I'm not carrying it over long distances or traveling on an airplane with it, I'm still happy using it. But just bear those small design features in mind if you're considering this bag for travel or commuting - it takes up space and is a LOT bigger than it looks, in my opinion.

Pack is well made like all products I have from Timbuk2
Pack is well made like all products I have from Timbuk2. The way the main compartment opens up is great, very easy to pack with cubes or just by itself. I use it for a gym bag and occasional flying, for which it suits my needs for a weekend trip. My main complaint is the lack of contrast with this bag. All black gives it a sleek look and it doesn't show stains but the interior needs to be made of a contrasting color, not dark grey. Good luck finding something in the rear access pocket in a dimly lit airplane or bus, you might as well throw it in a black hole. Maybe the other colors are better. Same story with finding the zippers and accessory pockets, it would be nice if they at least had a contrasting color for the pull tab. Other than that, the water bottle pocket is not great. It's made of the same waterproof material as the rest of the bag instead of a nylon mesh like most backpacks...which means condensation just forms a puddle in the bottom if you put any cold beverage in there. Larger insulated bottles do not fit at all and there is no elastic to keep smaller ones in place. The material is nice if you need a water repellent bag, but for the other 90% of the time it's stiff and crinkly. Personally I would rather have a bag that can be washed and throw a rain cover over it when needed than carry something around that sounds like a potato chip bag. Despite its shortcomings, there are surprisingly few "clamshell" style bags this size and it's the best one I've found for the price. Bought on amazon flash sale for $43 but I would be hesitant to say it's worth full price.

Incredible bag, exceeds expectations
Tons of space without looking bulky, waterproof and slick - this bag delivers. I had been looking for a bag for months; I needed something large enough to hold my work and workout clothes, food, have enough small compartments, and a separate padded laptop pocket for TSA and direct access. Finally, I commute by bike so I needed something reflective that sits tight on my back. After long research I was undecided between the Timbuk2 Especial Medio and the Blink. The Especial looked great at first, but turned out to be way too big, and its laptop bag was too loose for my liking. I had my doubts about the Blink but they all went away as soon as I held it in hand. The Blink has a perfect laptop pocket: two compartments, and an internal organizer pocket for small stuff. The main compartment is HUGE and fits everything I need and more. I can now stop by the store on my way home and pack it with some groceries on top of everything I already have in my bag - and it holds it all. Main compartment also has a large internal organizer mesh pocket which is great to keep smaller things you don't access often. Finally, there's a small padded top pocket on the outside of the bag that's great for wallet/keys. I got the blue variant because it was almost twice cheaper than the black. It looks awesome and I probably won't trade it for black now even if I could. Material is sturdy and repels water; I haven't had a chance to go through intense rain with it yet, but it looks like it'll withstand most rain while keeping the inside dry.

Good design. Good amount of space. Good overall daily backpack. Sleek minimal looks, could do with few more pockets but its ok
Good design. Good amount of space. Dont like the look of compression straps. Build quality is good although I find it a bit expensive. It wasnt one of these bags where I could still pack it with stuff, it reaches its limits quickly. But good overall daily backpack.

NO VIENE COMPLETO!

Nice looking bag for EDC or minimalist travel but it's not for me
PROS: Quality materials; good organization; nice looking The organization is simple - one small zip pocket on the front, a big main compartment, and a separate laptop compartment. The laptop compartment was well thought out. The pocket for the laptop was suspended from the bottom, so the laptop is protected if the bag is dropped. The laptop compartment is also still accessible when the compression straps on the other part of the bag are cinched, which isn't the case on some bags I've looked at. The central main compartment holds a couple of medium sized packing cubes or one large one with perhaps enough room for a pair of flip flops or slim shoes. Would probably hold about 5 days worth of clothes, enough for the minimalist one-bag traveller. The nicely padded top grab handle is worth a mention too. CONS: Sternum strap not fixed in place; not designed with the female form in mind The sternum strap slides around easily which could get annoying. The backpack straps are well-padded but didn't curve enough to fit around my bust. Not comfortable at all. Will have to return it for this reason.
