Sturdy end table.

Bought this worrying about the width and needing it to hold a lamp. The description clearly stated it was only 18 inches high. I did not realize most end tables are 21-23 inches tall. It took my husband and I about 3 hours to put together because not all the holes lined up. Eventually it all came together. Definitely worth the effort but it looks a bit low next to our couch. Can’t take it apart to return so we’re just going to keep it. The quality is very nice and the whole thing was beautifully packaged and labeled.

Assembly by customer is required

The back is not finished as shown in the 360° degree view provided online. It comes in 2 pieces and requires 16 screws. I suggest you not only determine all parts are in the box but carefully inspect every part prior to assembly. If not satisfied immediately repack and return the item since Amazon will not make any kind of price adjustment. I certainly tried. Unfortunately, it was the that fact they they were sold by and shipped by Amazon that gave me the confidence to make this purchase. I Purchased 2 nightstands. Dowels provided are significantly smaller in diameter than nearly all predrilled holes. One of 16 holes was snug but did not require use of a mallet. There is no mention of using glue and you probably shouldn’t in case you want to disassemble for return. They provide no strength, but merely help to position parts requiring screws. Not all holes were of the correct depth. I had to replace some and shorten some. This greatly increased the assembly time required for each item. The finish is okay although somewhat incomplete and lacking in uniformity especially on the drawer fronts. There is also some excess glue I’m unhappy about. A few screw holes were were not completely drilled through and there is a small gouge on the inside if one of the front legs. I really should have sent one back but couldn’t bear to disassemble and repackage it since the well sized drawers worked properly and I was happy to have the lower shelf. Also, I thought that a replacement might be even worse. They are heavy and sturdy, plywood where you might expect particle board. The first one I put together deserved at least 4 stars, not the second one which we have to consider pre-disastered. Even the top of that one should not have passed quality control. They do the job, function correctly, and look pretty good overall.

Assembly Nightmare but sturdy and looks nice when finished

Our expectation was "some assembly" required but this Shaker side end table came in 11 wooden pieces with countless screws, bolts, locking mechanisms, etc. versus the usual 1-2-3 and done. My husband is an experienced handyman and has put together many complex home products (gas grills), automotive parts, etc., you name it. This should have been a 15 min job by his standards but took 1 1/2 hours for the first end table although considerably less time for the second. The two horizontal side bars were cut too short no doubt in order to avoid problems fitting between the front and rear legs. On both end tables there is a 1/8" gap on either side of the legs instead of 1/32" which would not be noticeable while giving a margin of error to fit the horizontal side bards between the legs. All said and done, the tables are sturdy, look very nice in a Tabaco brown finish with a drawer that fits and glides well. Based on seeing a couple of finish flaws (worn edges) when it arrived it appears that it could be easily scratched or worn off with use. Given the $111.00 price per table they are worth it if you don't mind the assembly frustration.

Sturdy but Scratches VERY easily

Overall I am relatively pleased with the look and feel of the coffee table. Delivery was quick even over the holidays. Assembly had a couple small challenges but it came together without too much effort in the end. The top comes with two support crossbars already affixed and screwed down. One of them was stripped, split and loose. Since it didn't seem necessary to the overall structure of the table, I just glued it down with wood glue and moved on. The wood and finish, however, are soft and scratch VERY easily. A swipe with a toy or a dish will leave a noticeable gouge. I have had the table three weeks, and have kept a cloth on top of it, and still need to repair scratches already. I will have a glass top made, which will hopefully help us get our money's worth out of the table.

Review: SIMPLIHOME Warm Night Stand SOLID WOOD 24 inch Wide

Shipped to home in 2 days from time of order. Very well packaged, no damage to contents in shipping. All parts were very well layed out and labled for assembly. All screws and parts were individulay pakaged and labled .This is a REAL wood product no pressboard or fake laminates. I was very suprised on the quality of the night stand the build quality is very good. I was able to full unpakage and assemle in just 45 minutes. Only tools needed are a philips head screw driver and a light hammer.

Full assembly required

When I opened the box (very well packed), it required full assembly. Be patient, follow the instructions and it will become a sturdy, nice looking table. It is nice looking.

Small in size

I ordered two of these to go in my living room. They are very pretty end tables but the size is all wrong. The measurements on the website are right but when I actually put it in my living room next to my couch and loveseat they look very small. The height is only 18 inches and most end tables are 24 inches. That’s a big difference and they just look like miniature furniture. The drawers are also very small and will hold very little. If I had a choice for a bigger size I would’ve been very happy with these. It took me two hours to build this table and I do not feel like taking it apart to send it back so I will figure out somewhere to use that one but I am definitely sending the other one back

Took about three hours to assemble.

It took about three hours to assemble. A second person makes one of the steps easier, but that only takes a couple of minutes. The holes for three of the many "cam locks" were not quite aligned correctly, but I was able to work around that with a shim that I made. Overall, I'm satisfied. One more thing: It is made in China and not the USA, so do not let the word "Shaker" in the name mislead you.
