Collection Complete

First off, I have been waiting for this Console Table to become available since I purchased the Alymere Coffee Table and End Tables, and I waited for a very very very long time so when I say it, it was a must buy; the set is now complete. Now that’s out of the way, the table itself speaks for itself, and if you have any of the Alymere, then you’ll know what I’m talking about. It is big and the perfect size for my accent wall. Very easy to assemble; took me about 10 minutes once I got everything out of the box. Once assembled, it is fairly weighted and super sturdy. As for the price, well, It was much cheaper when I first came across the Alymere collection but considering the inflation, I’m not surprised I paid a bit more than I should have but again, I couldn’t pass it up since it is rarely in-stock. The finish is very nice and smooth except for some minor corner scratch and a possible manufacturing defect when it appeared like the there is a air pocket underneath the finish coat. See photos. It was well packaged by the way but the corners of most large furnitures are highly susceptible to nicks and dings when ordering online. Minor and didn’t even think about about returning it since there’s a good chance I won’t see it again for sometime. Anyway, it was a great purchase and a nice collection set.

Our sofa table came very well packaged and we had no damage due to shipping and handling. It was extremely easy to put together with two people - just put tabs in slots and screw them in. Ours came with a chip out of the top, unfortunately visible, 4 small dents along the edge, and several dented dots across the top front where the machining process gripped the board to turn it over and indented the surface because of the pressure/board quality. The color is a deep mahogany, very nice, and the patterning on the top is ok. The pattern on top is similar to what is shown in the advertisement, but it looks like two boards put together and then a line running around them, rather than the single board shown in the seller's picture. Overall 4/5 because it is very sturdy and a pleasing color.

key component of our home theater console

It took some work to convert this sturdy end table into a full fledged console for our home theater. I could have manufactured a similar device in my shop, but didn't have the time. The cup holders were replaced by 1) a holder for the mx air mouse charger that cannot be knocked off the console 2) a car cell phone holder that mounts in the other cup holder that with an old cell phone that provides the Android apps that operate the home theater. I also added a 6 outlet power strip that is fastened to the inside of the "end table" along with some cable management hardware which makes the end table quite neat and tidy. The table is in the middle of the home theater with a recliner on each side. The 8' cord is housed in floor conduit and is long enough to to reach a wall outlet. The balance of the top of the table is used by a goose-neck lamp and a permanent mounted basket that holds the remotes and a mini, backlit, keyboard for the HT/PC. This deployment offers all of the features of a console-recliners combo costing several thousand dollars and allows us to have different sized recliners as my wife is a foot shorter than myself. 4 stars because there is a shallow ding in the top surface. Difficult to notice in the dark ;-)

Perfect... almost.

Really love this piece but as stated in previous reviews there were issues. The fitment was dead on, had no problems with bolts lining up with their holes. Giggity. The finish is beautiful, especially after polishing. One minor problem was the desiccant bag blew up sometime in its travels. When we opened the box thousands of clear beads went everywhere. Took awhile to clean and weeks later we are still finding them lol. The bigger problem is with the decorative posts. They are very beautuful and articulated but they seem to be made of fiberglass or something other than wood. They are succeptable to damage as shown by the abrasions they came with. Two of the three came with chipping and major scratches. I used wood filler and stain to fix it and it looks like new now. It may not be such a happy ending if you do not know how to do repairs to furniture though as these decorative pieces are a focal point and any imperfections will show quite glaringly. All in all we are happy with the piece and enjoy its beauty and versatility but we do wish it were packed with more care.

Wedge table, very nice quality.

Not what I expected based on pic. It is more of a wedge than I expected. The top is 7 1/2" wide at the cup holders and 10 3/4" at the back. This is ok, but I thought it was a straight rectangle which would have worked better in my space. I anticipated black particle board but this is an espresso stained real wood product. Assembly is very simple: although if you have your own driver with a hex head it works much better than the included Allen wrench as the location of some of the screws are tight to the corners. The bottom shelf is a narrow 4 1/2 inches. So not a practical shelf at all. All that said- quality exceeds expectations as does appearance!! Size and design are somewhat less than expected. 4 stars because it isn't pictured or described all that well and isn't what was expected. The info in the description is more about Ashley furniture in general than this piece, so I decided to post a lengthier than usual review with some details. Hope it helps if any have questions. Also, FYI- made in Vietnam.

Great design, but questionable durability!

I was really looking forward to using this table, but it was broken right out of the box! Other people have experienced the same issue - the support section on the bottom of the lower shelf (see picture) was broken and there was no possibility of using some glue to reassemble the piece. And why would I want to even try that with an item that was just received? I was going to reorder the item, but after reading other reviews and seeing this is a common problem, I decided to just return it and order a table from a different seller. I really like the concept, especially the power plugs included in the table, but poor quality is a deal breaker for me!

Broken part...replaced and thank you.

It came with the bottom shelf broken, see picture. I’m going to ask for a replacement part and see how that goes... ...they sent me an entirely new table instead of just the part so when it arrived I just swapped the new part for the broken one and returned the “unopened” one. Great service, fast and the guy I talked with was friendly and efficient. All that being said, however, the table itself is a little pricey for what it actually is. I could have purchased an inexpensive table from almost anywhere and screwed an extension cord on the back of it for half the price. I like it, though, and it does the job so I’ll be keeping it but it’s not as solid a piece of furniture I would have hoped for a $200 table.
