Great Protection, But Velcro Straps Took Some Getting Used To
It took me a little while to get used to these Ringside Combat Sports MMA Kickboxing Shin Guards. I’ve owned a couple of other sets of shin guards and both were the pull-on types. Using velcro straps (at mid calf and just above the ankle) on these shin guards was a different experience and took just a little bit longer to put on. Once I had them on, however, I found that they hold the legs fairly well. I also like having the adjustable velcro straps on these guards as I can wear sweats or other athletic pants with these versus my old pull-on shin guards. Some negatives I noticed: I did experience some shifting of the guards (either a few inches to the right or left) after I worked the bag for a while. I actually didn’t notice they had shifted until I was finished with my set as the padding at the front and sides is so thick and shock absorbing that the impact of my kicks didn’t feel any different. I guess that’s a testament to the good quality of these shin guards. Additionally, there’s an elastic piece under the foot, just forward of the heel, that holds the guards in place so they won’t ride up or shift too far either way. Another issue I encountered is that when I walk down stairs with these on, the velcro straps rub and chafe the back of my ankles quite a lot. This is not going to be an issue for anyone unless they have to walk down stairs as I do (my locker room is upstairs and the heavy bags and training rooms are downstairs). I did not notice any rubbing when I was just walking around the floor, on the mats, or in the ring. In terms of durability, these shin guards seem quite sturdy. Note that they are made of synthetic leather. I’ve owned other Combat Sports synthetic leather products before and never had a problem with any of them. I’ve also found the synthetic products easier to clean and faster drying. All in all, these are a sturdy and useful pair of kickboxing shin guards that do the job well.

Long lasting for personal workouts
My husband has been using these for a couple years now for his workouts and they've mostly held up well to the use and abuse over time. Husband is a gym goer and also has a heavy bag at the house and will use the pads for either place, so they get plenty of use. The pads velcro on and it seems that depending on how hard you're kicking will guide how tightly the pads are strapped on to your leg. This pressure, however, can cause the edge of the straps to dig into the leg a bit. We taped it up and over time, this wore down more, but it was quite uncomfortable for a while. These are perfect for short sessions of 15-30 minutes at the bag. They usually get aired out or if they really need it, I'll scrub them down with a pretty damp rag to help clean out some of the gunk. Overall, these are a great gift to give someone that goes to the gym a lot but may not go work out in this way. Obviously, it's also great to give someone that enjoyes kickboxing or that owns a heavy bag at the house. We've been really happy with how long they've lasted and how well the padding has kept it's shape.

Mixed
I'm still not sure about these. They appear to be built soundly and they look nice, but I found them quite uncomfortable. As someone else noted, it's near impossible to walk down stairs and the ankle strap is short and gouges your ankles. I prefer more protection of the ankle bone and toes, and these don't cover these vulnerable body parts at all. I do think they are good for kicking the heavy bag and BOB, and I will definitely use them for that.

Great protection, very comfortable, just well done.
I received these in exchange for an impartial review. Excellent is the first word that comes to mind. First, the fit. I have rather big calve muscles and these fit like a glove.Three other people I train with wanted to try them and every single person was shaped differently, they fit everyone. This is a big deal b/c excess slack when you are kicking hard hurts, and will cause bruising. The same goes for the tips. Your toes are mostly covered, the bones in your feet are and your shins are - cover goes the whole way above the knee and despite going above it doesn't cut into your thigh at all. The fit on the feet is perfect and I love it. Next I kicked the heavy bag for several days with these. I could return them as new after a good 12 hours of training. Despite killing the bag (I don't kick that hard but I do have some power and I expected them to be bruised up a bit) to the best of my ability, i see no wear. They are comfortable, they don't stretch b/c of wear (they will at some point I'm sure but are fine so far) and still cool. I really couldn't like them any more and I plan on getting another pair for backup

Very heavily padded, comfortable and the strapping is wide and secure
These shin guards provide excellent protection and shock absorption, but so far we've (nephew) only used them for kicking at a bag. There is plenty of padding and the straps are secure and fit very well and the foot strap is comfortable and wide enough not to dig into your heel or the bottom of your foot and keeps the covering over the top of the foot in good position. The velcro straps are plenty strong enough and I don't expect that they would stretch out any time soon--probably never. We're used other guards that tend to shift a bit because the straps got lose, but I don't see that happening with these and and while they offer a tighter fit, but not uncomfortable. I am curious about other gel-filled models I've seen, but as far as straight padding goes, these are excellent. These are strictly shin guards and don't provide real protection around the sides of the leg, but if you are using these primarily for kicking a bag or a straight workout, they're more than adequate. I worry about toe protection a little bit, but I think that's true with any pad unless you get custom-made protection.
