A gate that works

This gate works great. It was easy to install and does not leave a mark on the walls. Best of all it keeps mt Shepherd and Great Dane out. It is sturdy and well made.

Easy , sturdy, love it

Bought it for my pets to keep them away from door when someone knocks or ring the doorbell so this keeps them from scaring people who come to my door

Serves its purpose

Good price. Fast shipping. I have 3 large dogs and it keeps them out of my kitchen. However since they are large if they are playing and running and plow into it while closed or hit it hard enough while open the 4 metal long bolts that secure the gate to the wall bend.

Overall, great, sturdy, works

The only reason I have four instead of five stars is that the handle is just a little odd. It works fine and is 100% functional. It just doesn't open as much as the other ones so I always feel like I missed the handle. It's just a user interface thing more than functional thing. Would definitely buy again.

Didn't fit despite saying they fit openings 29-52

Did not fit in staircase with either attachment, both were too big and with the gate alone it was too small (only just) the extendable feet were coming out with the slightest bit of pressure. They would cost over 50 pounds to send back via Royal Mail so I'm now stuck with gates that are not fit for purpose. Avoid.

Beware : does not fit openings between 29-49”.

Amazon's description reads "fits openings between 29-49”". This is a flat out lie. My opening is 39". Using the 4" extension the gate is not long enough and barely holds into place. A gentle push and it falls over. With the 12" extension the gate holds into place but can't open because it is too compressed to allow for the latch mechanism to move. Because it took 10 days for the gate to be delivered and because I needed it urgently I decided to saw a bar on the 12" extension but even then, it still is a little bit too wide to open. So now I'm out $70, I've wasted 10 days waiting for nothing, and I still need a baby gate. All of this could have been avoided if people at Regalo were honest enough not to omit that this gate absolutely won't fit openings that are 39" wide. And no, I'm not a butterfingers, I'm usually quite the handyman.

Incorrect specifications

Product specifications are incorrect. This gate does not configure to a 38” opening. I wish i read the review describing the same problem with 39”. Because this is an error with the manufacturer’s description i will return one of two i bought. The other opening i have is 48”. This configuration works however there is a safety precaution not to have a gap of more than 2.5 inches between wall and gate. Well for a 48” opening you will have almost 3” on each end of a gap. For me, i can live with this risk because i am using it for a puppy, otherwise i would be sending the second one back as well based on incorrect specifications which cannot guarantee the safety of this gate. i would keep this in mind for anyone that has 48” wide opening.

"Easy open handle" Not true.

This gate has some pros and cons... Pros: - Purchased 2 years ago, moved 3 times and 150 lbs dog running at it. It has held up to all of that and served its purpose. - Never had an issue with it not staying in place. Cons: - The grippy things that press against the wall will fall apart. Door doesn't swing both ways. - If you were ever in a emergency and needed to escape and that gate was in your way, you'd have a better chance of jumping over it than you would trying to manage the handle. That handle STICKS, you have to put your pinky finger on the long side that presses up against the opposite side, then with the rest of your hand stretching to hold the handle, push in and pull up. Doing that while holding a baby is a pain in the ass. Doing that while holding a baby that doesn't stop moving, 10 inches from a steep staircase is terrifying. - The opening is very narrow, with the gate being tall, heavy laundry baskets are a pain, pregnant women may struggle a bit, bigger people will forsure struggle. Does the cons ruin the whole product, all depends on how easily annoyed you can get. Would I purchase this gate again, no! Would I recommend it to people, sure. To my enemies. Overall, did it serve its purpose, yes, a little to well. Were there some flaws, fursure. Was it worth the $$$. No, you can find better options for cheaper. Goodluck.

easily pushes out of doorway

Gate material is strong. Latch is definitely the weak point, and good luck getting it to line up for smooth operation. The big complaint is that if kids or dogs push it, lean on it, or shake it, it is likely to fall down unless you have it in so tight that the gate won't unlatch. Keep a close eye on it and regularly readjust to prevent a wreck. The alternative is to drill holes and mount the cups that come with it, but that rather defeats the purpose of a pressure gate designed to have a no hole installation in places you don't want drill/screw holes.
