Smart is right...great cleaning mat for 1911 owners

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this item. Never mind the magnetic tray which is awesome on it's own. This has the breakdown of well, breaking down your 1911 and putting it back together. This was so much easier than reading the owners manual. I don't think they write owner's manuals for guns so the average Joe or Jane can read and understand them. This is not my first handgun and while most are very similar when taking apart, each has it's own special lock, mechanism, etc to take it apart. The 1911 is NO exception. This mat is easy to read and has PICTURES. Who doesn't love pictures?! Pictures aside, the mat is nice material, easy to clean/wipe off and keeps the gun and your furniture from getting scratched. I wish they had these kinds of pics of all different handguns on their mats. I lucked out on the 1911. I chose this one over the others with pics due to the magnetic tray. nothing worse than losing a tiny piece that is essential to your gun.

This is a gift

A gift for someone who *hates* tearing down his 1911 for cleaning. Why? Because he's doing it wrong. This will get him going on Christmas morning. :) Grrrrr!! haha!! I like integrated parts tray and the clear, concise instructions. No excuse now!

Awesome Mat!

This mat came exactly as described. The small parts tray appears screwed to the right side of the mat. As a nice bonus, one of the smallest trays came with a weak magnetic strip, but it is just strong enough to not let ferrous metal bits roll away. The tray alone is what drew me to this mat. I am always losing the small pieces, and needed something to keep them all at hand. I also love that it gives step by step instruction on how to field strip a traditional 1911. This already has been very helpful to my wife, who does not know how to disassemble a 1911 by heart -- at least not yet. So it saves the trouble of digging out the manual, or using her phone to bring up YouTube while her hands are dirty from carbon, cleaner, or oil. I highly recommend this mat for both novices or experienced gun enthusiasts!

Excellently conceived product.

I've used TekMats for a good few years as my firearm display and maintenance surfaces, but I'm happy to say this design trumps them. The nicely laid out instructions for those working with a new weapon are an excellent visual detail (and it's got a nice aesthetic too). It's got great grip on the smoothest of table surfaces, so the mat doesn't slide around. And the compartments are a fantastic inclusion. I usually do the same thing everyone else does, and have a couple containers handy off to the side for small components and the like. Having a tray built directly into the mat and also be stable enough that it can't be knocked over by a casual move of the arm is a very nice improvement. Excellent design, overall. A nice and simple step up from the basics.

decent mat. its not heavy duty and similar to the mat the cat uses .. that being said, the tray is nice and it rolls up when not needed. Would be good if they had other designs . over all worth it.

Funzionale

Ottimo tappetino da ‘lavoro’. L’unica pecca riguarda il vano calamitato, troppo piccolo. Sarebbe stato ideale calamitare tutto il tappetino (per i pezzi piccoli) e fare magari 2 o 3 vani ma più grandi. Il disegno della Glock e le scritte in inglese le trovo inutili ma vabbè, ci sono, quindi amen. Più carino se fosse in italiano e con la Beretta 92. In quel caso sarebbe stato eccezionale.
