Fit my Vicks humidifier

These filters fit my Vicks humidifier. They last a good while if not left to sit wet when the humidifier isn't run for several days. Lifespan can be increased by flipping the filter each time the humidifier is filled; otherwise it develops brown areas that don't go away when moistened. I try to keep a supply on hand.

New filter design

It was not exactly like one that was in the humidifier from the factory. It has a metal band in between the cloth-type accordion filter which you have to turn every time you change or add water. The new filter was difficult to put in first time n is not easy to replace as you can easily get poked on the metal strip.

Perfect fit for the Vicks Starry Night humidifier!

I had tried a couple other filter brands that say they're compatible with the Vicks Starry Night humidifier (model V3700), but they either fell apart quickly or were too short for the unit. You really need the filter to be a snug fit in the unit for it to correctly moisten the air going through it. I thought I was satisfied with the last brand I bought, but I eventually realized its filters weren't quite as long as they needed to be to work effectively. I noticed that this brand is what Vicks recommends on their web site for replacement filters, so I was very pleased to see a reasonably-priced 3-pack, and it turns out that they are the perfect fit for the Starry Night humidifier! Note that you do need to carefully place the filter in the tray inside the unit. It is a bit snug, so don't be alarmed - that is exactly what you want for it to work. One additional tip: many people complain about the filters in this unit not lasting long or developing mildew or foul smells fairly quickly. This two-step process works for me to keep them lastly about a month: 1) I take the filter out of the unit each day to air dry and then re-moisten it under running water at night before putting it back in. 2) When I start noticing mineral build-up, I let the filter soak in a 50% vinegar/50% water solution to remove it. I then rinse it thoroughly to get the vinegar out before using it again. Following Vicks' recommendations for using vinegar and bleach to clean and sanitize the main unit and water tank help a great deal, too (see the manual for details). Of course, if you still notice mildew even after doing all this, you should immediately replace the filter.

Good Filters for the price

We have been buying these filters for the humidifiers we use in the kids rooms when they have colds or the humidity drops in the winter. I cannot say that they stay mold free longer than any other brand but the product stands up to being bleached and cleaned weekly without issue. Thanks!

Mould On Filter In 3 Weeks Despite So-Called "Antimicrobial" Treatement

I never write a review until I have used a product for 2-3 months or more. This ensures I have some good experience with what I purchased and can maybe comment on the reliability of the product as well. In this case, it is VERY easy to write a review MUCH sooner. I bought these filters for our new Vicks VEV400 humidifier solely because of the misleading advertising stating "Antimicrobial Treated Filter - Helps prevent the growth and migration of mold". Mould grew in a previous humidifier years ago so I have been anal-retentive ever since. The so-called 'antimicrobial' coating on these ProTec filters is obviously BS because despite rotating and flipping the filter every day (per instructions) and using store-bought, filtered water, we had mould growth in less than a month. This is the first time we have had visible mould in a humidifier in over five years. This humidifier is only a few months old but the original filter that came with it never developed mould. We bought a different brand of filters today and threw out the remaining 2 filters from this ProTec 3-pack that we bought. Mould is dangerous and not something to play around with. Stay safe.

“The Smell!” BUYER BEWARE!

I bought these filters because of the pricing. Now I know why. I can’t stand the smell of them When they are wet. I notice on one of them, they used glue to hold together. I have been waking up with a headache. Don’t know why, wasn’t drinking booze the night before, So I am going to buy a humidifier that you don’t need filters! I’m pretty sure it the material they use to cheap out product that is causing head ache.

Fits the Vicks GermFree Humidifier (V3900)

These are perfect! As is the price. And I can confirm that they fit the Vicks GermFree humidifier (V3900), which is where I’m using them. I would even say they are better quality than the expensive Vicks filters. I’ve had mine in the machine for over 2 months and it has yet to get grimy and yellow like the Vicks one did.

Too big

This recommended Filter replacement does not fit very well by about an inch.i literally have to force it by squashing it down to get the humidifier basin to sit level..won't be purchasing again!
