So glad I bought this for my pet rabbit!!!

The media could not be loaded. I wanted to make feeding pellets 2xday consistent since our schedules are crazy. His morning greens are a little inconsistent, but he's happy with pellets and hay while he waits. I decided on this after tons of research, and I'm so glad I did. The camera gives us the ability to see our baby in a new way and record those memories. PROS: QUIET - My biggest fear was it would be loud and scare my rabbit, Louie, but it's so quiet. Rabbits are prey animals and cautious by nature. I only know it's working because I can hear the pellets sprinkle into the metal bowl ( around Louie loves!). Placing a few treats and hay into the bowl got him used to it quickly. PRIVACY - The camera is angled downward so we can see and hear him eat from anywhere on our phones. The angle also ensures that only our legs can be seen from the knee down when we walk by. I'm not comfortable with cameras in my house (I've worked in IT, and hacking most networked devices is too easy), but I'm good with this because it only shows Louie--and how cute he is while he nibbles. NIGHT VISION - This feature wasn't important to me, but we love it. It's nice to be able to check on him 24/7. I can even see his eye-shine when he's not close to the camera. EASY SETUP - Setting it up was simple, as was adding it to our phones and tablets. I had to experiment with the portion size, and 1 portion 2xday seems perfect for a 4-pound bunny. Louie would tell you otherwise--he's a greedy little rabbit LOL! SIMPLE INTERFACE - Neither of us had to read the manual to figure out the app. It's intuitive and easy to figure out how to set a schedule and take video and photos. BOWL CAN'T BE MOVED - Rabbits like to customize their habitats, so Louie moved the bowl away from the feeder, and it spilled on the floor a few times. I didn't read the manual too closely, and it took me a few days to figure out how to anchor the bowl so Louie couldn't move it. That's really on me, though. CONS: NO LOW FOOD ALERT ON PHONE? - It has run out of food once, and I don't recall seeing an alert on my phone. I did notice a red light on the feeder. I'll have to pay better attention next time to see if my phone alerts me. That's the only con so far, but it's not hard to remember to check when I give him his veg every morning.

I'm very happy with this feeder!

I was hesitant to buy this based some of the negative reviews but so far, I'm very happy with this feeder! I've done a few tests to rule out the issues that some people have reported and I'm happy to report that I haven't experience any issues in my case. At first, setting up the network and installing software update would fail over and over. What is odd is once I walked away from the unit, about 10 feet, it connected to Wi-Fi instantly, and software also updated instantly. Somehow the cell phone in-hand interferes with the unit connecting to the Wi-Fi signal. I wish I had known this from the start. I was concerned that my router is in the basement on the other side of the house. I was able to connect to 2.4 Ghz Wi-Fi and the signal has never dropped so far. I have 5 Ghz as well but the router is too far away and there's too many walls for a stable connection. Besides 5 Ghz is over kill, video streaming works fine on 2.4 Ghz and signal travels farther and works better through walls. I have an AC timer connected to my router and ONT to cut power to both at 4:30am every morning for 30 minutes. This simulates a power outage and the Petlibro reconnects every single time no issues. I tested the backup battery by disconnecting the power adaptor and the unit continued to dispense as per schedule with the 3 D-cell batteries! However, it disconnects from Wi-Fi when running on batteries. This was probably by design to conserve battery. Disappointed as I like to see the food in the bowl and option to manually feed for peace of mind! I found an easy and cheap workaround that maintains Wi-Fi connection on battery power. I connected a cheap $20 4000mah portable USB battery, that is used to charge cell phones, into the USB port and then I plugged a USB phone charger into that battery. The battery is charged and powers the unit at the same time. Not all USB battery packs have this pass-through feature, and I was surprised that this small cheap power pack did. I chose to use a higher quality charger instead of the included charger as I noticed that the included power pack got a little hot when charging this USB battery. I then disconnected the charger from the wall outlet to simulate a power outage and the unit disconnected from the Wi-Fi for only 15 seconds but then reconnected. It's fully functional running on the USB power pack, stayed connected to Wi-Fi and enough power to run for 6 hours! An even larger USB battery will last at least 12-24 hours longer. Keep in mind this is only helpful if your Router & ONT are also on battery-backup/UPS so they are powered during a power outage. I have the smallest APC UPS for the router and ONT that cost $69. Also, the D-batteries are not even used until this USB battery pack is depleted! So technically my current setup will continue feeding per schedule for about 24 hours using both batteries. The unit apparently doesn't draw a lot of power, so I wonder why Petlibro doesn't allow Wi-Fi on the D-batteries or include a rechargeable battery instead of 3 D-batteries. D batteries are not cheap, they will lose power over time and are sold in packs of four, so I have a single battery left over. My USB battery is always 100% charged and ready to go so I prefer this setup. So far, the portion size is consistent and zero blockages. Then again, I am using very small kibble and set to 1 portion for 6 feedings. I need to dispense the smallest portion and feed more often as my cat throws up if he eats too fast or too much. This unit is great as my cat hasn't thrown up at all since, I bought this unit! I wish I could select an even smaller portion. Portion size is bigger when using small kibble. An added benefit of the motion activated camera is that it's also activated when my cat is drinking from the water fountain 12 feet in front of the feeder. I never see my cat drinking water and now I have proof. lol I have not confirmed yet that the low-food alert works but I will update the review if there are any issues. Some users have complained that you can't delete a scheduled feeding. Swipe left and it gives you an option to delete a scheduled feeding. So far, I agree with everything that is being said in the positive reviews and luckily not experiencing the issues in the negative reviews.

Great product, but not sturdy against playful pets

This is an absolutely great feeder. Everything works as expected, but there's one constructional detail. The feeder is pretty tall comparing hight to width, so it is not stable on the floor against playful pets. It may be easily turned aside by a jumping pet, and then the bowl pops out and the feeder becomes an easy-to-roll cylinder with USB power connector going out immediately. And then you lose Internet connection to this device, EVEN IF YOU HAVE BATTERIES INSTALLED - this "detail" is stated at the first line of the paper manual, but not in the online description. Obviously you are away at this time, so you lose any clue what happened and start calling all your neighbors to come to your place and look what happened to your pets...

Expensive, and - frankly - not very good

The good: Feeder dispenses portion sizes accurately. The bad: It's unnecessarily complicated to set up initially, the buttons aren't particularly responsive, it somehow 'drifts' over time (despite being mains powered) to the point where the three feeders I've got are now somehow three minutes apart despite being plugged into the same outlet, the lids don's seal easily after replacing the food, and are difficult to remove when it's time to fill it, and most annoyingly, the feeder doesn't have a locking mechanism on the lid - which renders it useless to a determined cat who has figured out that it's easy to tip it over, spilling food all over the floor. Would not recommend.

Good, but somewhat fiddly setup.

Only the instruction book is poorly written, otherwise it does its job well. Day 2 and the cat now welcomes its new robotic overlord. Portion size seems fairly consistent, the machine handles by volume so after you set up then dispense a manual feed and weigh it to make sure your cat/dog is getting the correct amount of food. We have an old neutered cat that has needed a diet but becomes very unsocial if her portions are cut, so we're hoping that cutting the human out of the feeding process will stop the aggression. 2 days in and it seems to be working. The instruction book made what is a fairly simple process seem more complicated, but once you've set it up it's dead easy.

Hangry cat finally satisfied

I think this is a fantastic product. Unfortunately, our cat has a few digestive issues and was recently diagnosed with colitis. We have to be very careful what she eats and manage her portion sizes, so we opted to purchase an automated feeder. The feeder allows for 6 feeding times per 24hrs with varying portion sizes. Each portion size is roughly (after a few tests!) 6g. We give her 4x 6gs and two double portions of 12g per day, including two feeds during the night when she is most active. We don’t keep the machine plugged in due to socket location, but it works just fine on battery power. However, the blue light does flash once every 30 seconds when unplugged, so I taped over 90% of it as it’s rather irritating. Very impressed and so is the cat. Highly recommend.

Great When it Works, but...

Originally it worked fine, but soon enough it started jamming more and more. It's the correct size of food being used and no changes have been made since getting it. It's a great product when it works, with a sensor to show a red light on low food, adjustable portion sizes and more. But the most important thing for these is reliability and that's where it fails. I can't leave it to automatically feed my cats, especially when going away.

Breakfast, Brunch, Linner, Dinner, Tea & Midnight Snack

This has been a lifesaver for me as we're now returning to regular office working. My cat prefers small snacks during the day so one single (small) portion size is perfect for each meal drop when we're out at work, or after bedtime. You can also add different sized biscuits into the hopper to add variety to the meals. The added ability to record your voice is lovely too. Each time the meal drops, the voice recording calls out to my cat... his ears prick up and he goes trotting off to the feeder. Recommended for a little convenience and wellbeing, routine and contentment of your furbaby.
