Excellent for dealing with lye
Very good gloves for my current purpose, which is stripping a whole lot of cast iron down to bare metal in a lye bath. Butyl gloves stand up very well to lye, with a breakthrough time of more than eight hours of exposure. Gloves made of natural rubber are also excellent for use in lye, but they are not nearly so versatile as butyl; butyl handles chemicals that would eat into rubber, and I was looking for the most versatile gloves I could find that would also handle lye. I have another pair of gloves to handle chemicals that butyl and natural rubber have inadequate resistance to. Anyone buying chemical resistant gloves should be aware that NO one glove material is going to withstand all chemicals. I strongly urge anyone who is shopping for chemical resistant work gloves to check out the relative resistance of various glove materials to an array of chemicals. Many charts detailing the differences are on the Internet from companies, the federal government, and universities. This North Butyl glove is light, but what counts in chemical resistance has less to do with bulk than with the kind of material. I was a bit concerned about the size, but I should not have been. I have large hands for a woman (good for playing piano!), and these gloves fit my hands with room to spare, so I suspect that they'd fit many men's hands. I recommend these gloves highly, and I can't imagine that anyone can beat the price. For what they are, these are incredibly cheap.

Great for Use with Acetone
Gloves made of nitrile or PVC all deteriorate quickly in acetone. These gloves seem unaffected by acetone.
