Fits the file

Kind of a pain to find the correct file handle to go with which file. Nicholson website has a very nice page on which handle is for such file. The people who give bad reviews choose in incorrect handle for their file. Would be nice if the listings had the into from re website on which handle to use. With the correct file to handle match. The handles are solid and will last a long long time.

Much better than the plasti-rubber deal

I bought both types of handles. The wood version and the plastic one, even though I knew the so called ergo-friendly rubber version of things these days never quite live up to expectations, or even average performance. The wood file handle works as it should. Stays put and offers excellent control. I know, it's essentially just a wood knobby thing but if you work with hand tools enough, eat your wheaties, and don't get carried away with the hand lotion, this handle will suffice, just like it did for your granddad. If you're serious about hand tools, you already know this is the standard, centuries old design that works.

Well made and Protects your hands

The wooden handles are comfortable and much less expensive than the plastic handles, I found another brand "Made in USA" for even less and just as good

Get the Correct Size

It is a file handle but it doesn't fit my file. That isn't the fault of the handle but it is a reason to be sure you are ordering the correct size or buy one at a local store so you can try it out and return it if it is too big.

The standard handle.

This is the standard handle that fits most Type E tang files. I use these on almost every file in my cabinet; at least 30 at the moment. The handle is a comfortable size and shape, looking near identical to the handles that are on the files handed down to me by my grandfather.

Good handle for large file

Used with 12" files. Nice and large to provide plenty of grip. I have not been using long, so cannot comment on longevity, but seem plenty sturdy.

Good quality for the money. Fits my file good. Make sure to use the sizing chart on Nicholson’s website so you buy the right handle type for the file you have.

The E handle is really a lot larger than the D handle

I am fitting various Nicholson files with handles sight unseen. The E handle is BIGGER than the D by a lot and costs more. The biggest file is a 10 inch mill file bastard cut and the E handle fits and grips well. The D handle MAY fit a smaller 10 inch with adjustment and it is significantly cheaper. I am glad I bought the E handle.
