Awkward pocket placement for tall person, but robust product.

I have high expectations for Mountain Hardwear products. I have 2 ultra-lightweight rain parkas, and a light coat from this brand. This Mountain Hardwear Rhea Ridge Vest is light, tailored for a female form with rear end coverage, and has a nice collar. The 2 zippered front pockets are located too high on the vest for a tall (5'10") person with long arms, and the zipper has snagged more than once on the material at the top end of the collar. With those considerations, I still expect top performance from this down vest. The information provided indicates that the down is RDS certified. "The Responsible Down Standard (RDS) aims to ensure that down and feathers come from animals that have not been subjected to any unnecessary harm."

Would work all 4 seasons

I'd describe this vest as fluffy and light. My wife wears a small but I ordered a medium as she wanted a top layer for the late summer, to be worn over a light sweater without feeling tight at the arm holes, and I think we judged perfectly. We've had a couple of nights of relative summer chill recently - we're talking 50F as we approach midnight, with a stiff breeze to push away warmth - and she's toasty warm with this over a thin linen shirt and a cotton sweater. It retains heat well. Our winters get absurdly cold, all the way down to -40F, but I think this vest would still work as a mid layer at that temperature, adding a few degrees beneath a winter coat. It packs down to almost nothing - seriously, you could squeeze it into a large coat pocket at a push - so I'd say it's an extremely versatile item of clothing. I'm impressed.

Warm yet lightweight

The Mountain Hardwear Women's Rhea Ridge Vest is both warm and comfortable. The sales blurb notes that it has a DWR finish. I looked that one up and here's what I found: Durable water repellent, or DWR, is a coating added to fabrics at the factory to make them water-resistant (hydrophobic). Most factory-applied treatments are fluoropolymer-based; these applications are quite thin and not always effective. I like that it's warm yet lightweight, easy to pack and machine washable. And I like that the pockets zip closed. The fit is a bit snug so keep that in mind before ordering.

Thin and packable, great for travel.

I got this Mountain Hardwear rhea ridge vest for my wife and she loves it. It is made of 600 fill down filling for warmth yet it is very thin and lightweight and folds super small so it doesn’t take up space in her suitcase when traveling. She said it is perfect for those days that are chilly but not cold enough for a coat. She also loves the pockets and said they are very warm and soft on the inside with a fleece like lining. It is made of 100% nylon and is also machine washable.

Warm and light！！

Lightweight, packable, and stylish! I absolutely love it. In the cold weather in New York, wearing such a vest is very warm, I like it, really like it, you can fold it in a small light bag anytime，For reference, I’m 158cm tall, 120 pounds, and it's a perfect fit. The pockets are well placed and zip snugly. It's one of my favorite items of clothing.

Very nice. Like a packable.

This vest is very nice in quality and feels like my expensive NorthFace or LL Bean packable puffer coats that are lightweight but amazingly warm. I am excited to wear this next fall, it's very flattering and just really cool looking. Feels great and the high neck is super attractive.
