Poor quality and not a match for Hunter matte black fans

This downrod is HORRIBLE! Do not buy if you want your fan to look good and/or you don't want to spend extra time trying to get it to work. The finish is not "matte" and is more like a semi-gloss. The routing on the end that connects to the fan is not finished in black (it's silver) and is not routed correctly to fit the fan. My contractor and I had to attach a rod through the mounting hole so that one of us could turn the rod (he is big burly super strong man who does construction for a living) and the other could hold the fan assembly. We could only get it to go down so far with brute force, so now the silver threads can be seen.
