Quiet and Easy to Use

Purchase for our office/guest room. Remote hangs on the wall in place of an actual light switch. When our guests go to bed they can take the remote with them, so it's easy to turn on and off the light, and adjust the fan speed, without having to get up again. Awesome little fan.

Good fan but some design flaws

The fan is quiet. The remote works good as designed. After installing it, I took it down and replaced it. Here is what I didn't like: 1. Installation: Overall installation went fine, but the remote receiver is not shaped in a way to easily fit into the space allowed. Once the fan was wired, took another 20 minutes to coax the remote receiver into a place that allowed me to install the cover. 2. The Remote: Maybe I did not read the description well enough, but this fan cannot operate with a separate switch for the fan and light. Both are controlled exclusively by the remote. And the switch must ALWAYS be on. The carrier for the remote installs over the wall switch so you cannot turn it off at the wall. 3. The remote works great for the fan with three speeds and off. However, the remote for the light is poorly designed. You have a choice of on or off, then when on, can control the brightness. But there is only one button and it slowly cycles the brightness. There is no up or down. There is no way to increase the brightness to max except to cycle the brightness until it starts to go back down, then you know you passed the maximum brightness. 4. You cannot just enter the room and turn on the light. Heaven forbid you left the remote somewhere not in the receiver. Now you have a dark room and have to search for the remote in the dark to turn the light on. 5. The switch that controls the fan direction is not accessible without partially disassembling the fan. Every other fan I have ever owned has a switch for the fan direction easily accessible. Not this is one. I bought the fan expecting the remote to be a cool way to control the light and fan without having to get up, but I expected the light and fan to primarily be powered by the two wall switches, then once power was applied, it would allow the remote to change the brightness or fan speed. Very disappointed. I have since removed the fan and replaced it with a different Hunter fan. Hunter is a great brand and I have used them for years. They could have done a much better job on this design.

Hunter - That Means A Quiet Fan Motor

We have a 32 year old Hunter in the master bedroom that has performed flawlessly. I was hoping this new one for another bedroom would be just as quiet - and it is! I'm not a fan of remotes which is the only way to operate this model, especially when grandchildren are the ones using the bedroom. Somehow the remotes are always disappearing. To be fair, when the wall light switch is turned off, the fan will resume operation on the last setting of the remote. i.e. if it was operating with light on and fan on low it will return to those settings when powered on. Pros: quiet motor, 3 speed settings, two ceiling height mounting post options, uses two standard base light bulbs (included). Cons: Very detailed installation instructions but it relies more on illustration than written text. Can be misled by the wiring diagram and forgetting an early step - installing the canopy. Pro Tip: When installing the fan blades use the two 3 inch wood screws (if not already in use) to align the outer holes of the fan blade. Just find the holes and then give a slight twist by hand to keep them stuck in the screw hole. Next insert the middle screw loosely, remove one 3 in. and replace with the threaded screw, etc. This saves a ton of time and frustration as holding/maneuvering the blade with one hand and trying the keep the small screw and washing together while fishing around for the screw hole is really maddening. The screws are too small to allow finger starting so you have to balance the screw/washer on a phillips screwdriver tip, "feel around" within the blade opening to get it started. Rather touchy affair especially if also balancing on a step stool. It becomes a regular circus act.

Attractive, easy install

This is an attractive ceiling fan that went up fairly easily. I replaced an existing bedroom fan (old - shiny brass/oak) with this one and it looks great up there. I have an 8 foot ceiling in that room and used the standard down rod which is only a few inches long. It's over a bed so I'm not concerned with head clearance but it's still about 7 feet above the floor. Installation went as expected. The instructions are clear and the pictures were helpful. I don't know how many ceiling fans I've installed over the years but it's a lot. This was one of the easier ones. The remote is great. They include a holder that you attach over the light switch that is used to power the fan so the remote hides that switch and cradles the fan. The remote is also a nice size and has buttons marked with the fan speed you want and a light button. The light is dimmable - just hold down the light button on the remote. The fan is quiet on all but the highest speed. I can hear a whoosh noise but that's to be expected. There was a noticeable wobble that I fixed with the included kit. One little thing I don't like is that they hid the reverse switch under the light kit so you have to remove the globe to reverse the fan. I generally don't use the fan in the winter so this isn't a big deal but they sure made it more difficult than it needs to be.

the flashing is fixable - maybe

we have two of these installed in bedrooms and our kids have told us the lights cycle off/on intermittently/unexpectedly. i just witnessed it for myself and called hunter customer service. had an excellent conversation with a very helpful representative who suggested to turn off the dimming feature by holding the 0 button and pressing the light button twice. you can then turn the dimming feature back on and should be good to go. if it doesn’t resolve the issue (watch it for a couple of days), they will send me a replacement receiver lickety split. she noted my name and the relevant part number just in case.

Beautifully simple and quiet fan, easy to install

Hunter continues to provide products that support its excellent reputation. We have two Hunter ceiling fans that were installed by an electrician (part of the job was to install new ceiling light receptacles so we let him do the install as well). When needing a new fan for the family room I ordered this one, confident my husband could do the installation and according to him it was a breeze (no pun intended). We needed an extension on the down rod that he picked up from Home Depot and with the clear directions for the fan installation he was done in less than 45 minutes, mind you, he is a very handy guy! The fan is very quiet and looks discreetly elegant in our small room. The remote works great and sits nicely on the light switch plate. We do not find it ‘cheap looking’ per other reviews, it’s a simple small remote that blends into the switch plate. One thing is that the lights could be a bit brighter, we may change the bulb wattage after we’ve lived with it for a while. Highly recommend.

Good quality at a reasonable price

Well made and easy to install. A nice looking ceiling fan with a light that provides plenty of light for the bedroom. Quiet at low and medium speeds. I like the way the remote is designed.

Great looking smooth fan

I installed this fan in our bedroom. It went up very easily and looks great with our teak bedroom furniture. It is super quiet (virtually inaudible at low speed ) and has a smooth modern look. The light is very pleasing and works flawlessly with the remote control. The fan arrived on time well packaged with easy to understand installation instructions. Not a cheap fan, but well worth the price. Great bedroom fan/light.

There was a significant difference in how well the fan cooled the bedroom compared to the one we had. It is very quiet as well. The lights are a bit too soft but that can be changed with different bulbs. Overall, it's an excellent product! The remote control is an added bonus.
