Good safe box, it's not for security

I love how heavy this is, it can probably meet its claimed fire and water resistance. Note that the latches on the outside are plastic and hold the safe completely shut, but without the key you can still open these latches just enough for water to get in, so remember to close them! In a fire they would melt and leave a small gap into the safe, I'm not sure if smoke could then cause damage to the documents inside or not, but I'm adding a hose clamp around it just to be safe. The purpose of this safe is not security, the key is simple and only there for convenience. It can always be moved by the as there are no points to bolt it to the ground. But as a substitute for a safety deposit box it works great provided you have other home security measures.

Very sturdy

I needed a safe for money and papers that I have and didn't want to be bothered with going to the bank to get a safe deposit box. It's a little small but I will be ordering a bigger one. I love how heavy this safe is.

I like it a lot but, smaller than I would have liked it to be.

Protects from fire but not theft

Pros: sturdy, thick walls, well priced Cons: must be opened weekly to prevent mold/mildew, plastic latch could easily be broken into, key can’t be removed while in the unlocked position I like this safe a lot. It weighs a ton and feels like it would withstand fire/water. However I wouldn’t consider it a security safe because a) the latch is pretty small and made of thin plastic and b) it could simply be carried away by a thief. So if your primary concern is fire, it’s a good choice, but this safe won’t protect you from theft.

Item is smaller than expected.

Excellent quality, smaller than you think it is. Documents have to be folded. Product is seriously heavy.

Excellent buy for the money

This product is sturdy and although I'm not a safe-cracker, it appears very secure. Heads up though, it is quite heavy. It fits most lengths of paperwork, although for legal length is does fall a bit short, not enough to require bending. I do recommend this for the safe keeping of sensitive documents etc. Great value for the money.

Great! Even better than I was expecting

Looks "plastic-y" in the images, but it's very solid, including the brown latches. Lock works well, obviously not a good safe, but great for fire protection. Put it inside my safe.

The best portable safe for essential valuables

I'd say this portable chest if enough to keep your most essential valuables safe - passports, cash, jewelry, stuff like that. It's very heavy for the size which is rather good - it's sturdy and not easy to carry for a burglar. Still it's very portable, easy to move around a house or put into your car. It's very well made and easy to use. I'm really glad I've decided to buy this particular fireproof chest. I know my review is just like most of them for this product, but I'd be glad if it would make difference for someone who can't decide what to buy.
