Favorite paddle so far

I'm a big fan of Pickleball Central's Mystery Boxes, so I've tried lots of paddles. I like them lightweight, without a lot of "pop," because I'm heavy handed and I'm more in need of control than power. Prior to buying the Franklin, I'd been playing with a Vulcan, which I liked, but it was time to try something new. The grip on this paddle is on the smaller side, 4.25 inches, which is just right for me. I don't have small hands, but I don't want to hold something that feels like a tennis racket either. I started playing with it a couple of weeks ago, and I've seen an improvement in my game. My angled shots are sharper and more precise, and I've gained just a little more power for smashing, without feeling like I'm knocking it out of the park on those deep baseline shots. I'm a 3.0 player who's been playing for a couple of years. I'm a rec player, weekends and the occasional after work pickup game. I love the grit on the face of the paddle, although I'm not to the level where I'm putting tons of spin on my shots. I have noticed an improvement in the speed of my serve, which was already my strong suit. This paddle is a good deal at $100, so if you're looking to upgrade but not ready for a Selkirk, give this one a try.

Cheap or Expensive paddle?

If you enjoy playing pickle ball, you will find yourself enjoying it much more with a better paddle. The quality of the paddle makes you a better player.

Needs a bit more weight and better construction.

I tried this out for a week or so before returning. This is more of a touch/control paddle than power. The grit is definitely a plus and it's a lightweight paddle. But I think it needs a midweight option at 8-8.2oz so it fares better in the power department, especially in singles. I love the form factor; the handle is the perfect length and the balance is much better than other paddles. But I think I still prefer my Onix Evoke Premier because it just feels better constructed and has more power.

Not Like New

Purchased used from Amazon and description read Like New. Several scuffs and scratches on rim. I think description should have been Good . I base this on a previous purchase about a year ago, of another used paddle from Amazon. It was rated as Good but was in better condition than the current purchase.

A great paddle for control, but understand how to take care of it

This paddle has a grit on the surface like fine sandpaper. You’ll need to preserve that grit as long as you can. Don’t wash the surface! Live with the battle scars. It’s a very lightweight paddle so it will be more fragile than others on the market. Avoid banging it on the court.

New paddle

I needed a new paddle for my game. According to the reviews this one was a good one to buy at a good price. I found it slightly light on first use but am getting used to it. The ball goes well off the sweet spot but it tends not to travel so well when hit away from that spot

Just used 1 week and already peeling at the top of paddle.

Love the weight, love the grip but no excuse for the surface to be peeling like that on the upper left corner after only 1 week use.
