Well made and works beautifully

The Evenflo Expansion Walk Thru Room Divider Gate is well made and works as described. The slide on the top keeps the gate straight and not flopping around. I was a little concerned that the slide did not let the gate collapse down to about 8" as a non-slide gate will, but it turns out that was not an issue. It actually turned out to be a positive. The latches are easy to use, and my grandchildren and wife (who shares her mechanical type skills)) were able to quickly master the latches. I will probably purchase two more of the units

Great for large area

Great that it easily expands to fit a large space. I installed it at the top of my basement stairs and I put another set of hooks across the doorway to block the dogs from going up to the front door. I can swing the door to either set of hooks depending on what I want blocked off. The only negative is the hooks the gate came with. They are cheap eye hooks and the lock is difficult to open and close.

Perfect solution for us

So far this gate has been a lifesaver. So easy to install, sturdy, and most importantly it’s very simple to open and close when we need to walk up and downstairs and even to remove completely when we needed to carry large objects upstairs. So far the dogs haven’t tried to get past it and we’re hoping that they don’t figure it out.

Great dog gate!

This gate actually can expand up to 61”…perfect for my space! Comes with 8 eye bolts (4 each, of two different lengths). Literally installed in 10 minutes!! Great dog gate!

perfect for 4 dogs to STAY OUT OF THE KITCHEN!

We modified the installation for our own purposes, installing a very strong magnet for the 'closure'. The magnet 'grabs' onto the frig but still remains easy to yank off with one hand to open. We also installed a long metal slab/plaque/piece as a guide so that when the gate is in the open position it stays in place, close the the wooden cupboard to keep anyone, humans or canine, from getting caught on it. For us, the telescoping top handrail is the 'selling point' since it gives some rigidity to the gate and something convenient to grab on to. Of course if there were a steak unattended in the kitchen this gate would not withstand the enthusiasm of any of our dogs (each weighs over 65 lbs) but it does keep them from underfoot when working in the kitchen. This gate has been a big game changer in our household!

Versatile, easy to use and instal!

Love this gate! A few inches taller than the “standard” plastic babygate. Nice easy hook, don’t have to use both hands and a foot to open and close every time, the plastic classic design one we had was so annoying to go though all the time. This one is also SUPER versatile for size and I like that it has the expanding/sliding guard on top! (Says to drill holes but I just twisted the attachments into the wall by hand)

Fantastic for those *weird* places you need to put a gate

I needed a gate to put at the top of the stairs so the dog could not go down and chase the cats. This gate did the trick. As you can see by the photos, my stairwell had a banister on one side and a wall on the other side. I could not put the standard *wall to wall* gate, because on 1 side it would not have anything to attach to. This gate allowed me to be able to hook it anywhere I need to. I did a McGyver and put a piece of wood against the wall, screwed it in, so that I have the flexibility to move the gate back and forth like a door. It also allowed the cats to go underneath the gate to get to the downstairs, while keeping the dog upstairs and not being able to chase them. The other end, I rigged up a little hook to just hook the gate into so that it cannot be opened unless forced (and the dog is not smart enough to figure this out YET) Solved my problem, and could not have done it with another type of gate.

A Perfect Garden Gate

This is a simple yet nicely constructed expandable gate. Whoever designed this, put a lot of care into the details. The plastic slider at the top looks like it will last many years and the hinges are securly attached to the frames. We needed a gate to keep our dogs outside our garden area (they like to pee and poop on our plants). The gate needed to be detachable and storable for winter, but easy to open and close during the summer. This gate fits our needs perfectly. See attached photo.

screw anchors are definitely needed!

Unfortunately, the hardware that comes with this gate is inadequate. I had to go out and buy anchors and different screw in eyes. the eyes provided are not long enough to have the gate swing open if you have a baseboard or molding. the eyes also easily pull out of the wall or turn. however other than the hardware, this gate works very well. It is easily transferable from one door to another, providing you install screw in eyes in both places. the gate expands and retracts easily. It does not retract as small as i had hopped, so it is a little in the way when not in use, but i can deal with that if it is going to stop my dog from chewing up everything she can fit in her mouth. (who knew so many things can be made into chew toys )
