Good, not great

I purchased this for burning man, I'll update my review afterwards. The humidity today is 44%. Temperature was rising, and when the room temperature reading went from 81 degrees to 82, and the temp of air coming out went from 71 to 72, I turned on my actually air conditioner in my apartment. What I'm seeing here in Los Angeles is that I get the low-end of performance, only ~10 degrees of effective cooling, at the bottom of the claimed 9-25 degrees possible. This is mildly disappointing, but not a deal-breaker. Burning man should have higher temperatures and no humidity, so I'm very keen to see how effectively it cools my tent. Other things to note. The unit design is pretty solid. It looks nice, the control wheel and TouchPad work as an interface, the light being integrated into the water tank is a nice touch. As others have noted, the fan is hardly whisper quiet but that's just how fans are. I'm most happy to report that it actually draws only 4-5W of power at maximum fan speed, and only 2W at half-power (which is the most effective setting for balancing ambient noise and cooling effect). This means I can run this thing for hours and hours off of a battery power source, good for the off the grid application I need it for. All in all, this is a slick-looking unit with some well designed features and anesthetics. It's held back by the inherent limitations of evaporative cooling. If you live in a humid place, you don't want to buy this. I do think it's a little overpriced though. This is the same working principle as a swamp cooler, something you can make yourself pretty cheaply and might actually be more effective than this. In short Good product, mediocre value

Works about as good as I expected

Holds a good amount of water to last a few hours. Works great at night to help keep me and my girl cool.

Amazing product!

The cooling effect works well. It takes only 2-3 minutes to lower the temperature by 3 degrees Celcius. The water compartment can last quite a few hours before needing a refill, which is amazing so I don't have to keep refilling the water. However, it is to be noted that it only cools the air right in front of the air cooler, which is quite a small area. Therefore it only works well when you are working at a table and the cooler is directed right at you. It is great that the airflow(fan) has so many different speeds, and you can adjust it easily to your liking. I do live in quite a humid environment, the humidity here is about 50% average and can go up to 70%. It does say that it will not work if the humidity is high, so I have yet to test it out when the humidity levels are high. Overall good product!

100% satisfied

This product is amazing. It's very easy to assemble, and the instructions are clear as day. I turned it on and got instant satisfaction just off the low air setting.

Overpriced joke that I unfortunately will keep

I have sensory issues and cannot tolerate the 80-100 degree temps my coffin-sized apartment gets almost year round so I bit the billet and purchased this overpriced swamp cooler. I say cooler lightly since it’s just slightly colder than skin temp moist water blowing on you for about a couple hours until the water runs out (nowhere close to the 8 hours they promise). You’re left feeling sticky and gross which is better than dying of heat exhaustion I guess. Another let down is the fact that this “touch screen system” isn’t a touch screen at all… it’s a button with a ring slider that you move manually. Their marketing led me to believe it would have some swanky touch screen system but it’s archaic. I owned the smaller Evapolar (also a rip-off) and it has basically the exact same mechanics and features. They added a little LED screen and some primeval color customization to try and justify the $60 markup. I seem so negative which begs the question as to why I’m keeping it: 1) They use basalt, which is apparently safe for breathing. No other swamp cooler on Amazon mentions anything about their internal materials being safe for breathing so that scared me into placing my trust in this company (I’m immunocompromised). 2) My apartment refuses to install AC and I have no compatible windows for a portable AC unit so I’m stuck with using swamp coolers. If you are able to use a portable AC unit, do that. If you’re not immunocompromised and don’t care about breathing other materials, choose any other swamp cooler. They all looked much bigger and more powerful at competitive prices. Just don’t get this joke of a “cooling” system.

94 degrees and comfortable - ice tray runs out fast

I do not have a/c and while I’m perfectly fine in 94 degree weather my dog is not. I got him this and filled it with ice and water 50-50. He’s not panting and he’s very happy pup finally comfortable enough to take a nap. The only draw back is that the water runs out fast! Every 45 mins I’m refilling it, but it is what it is bc my land lord won’t let me have a window unit As a note: I also have reflective insulation on all my windows and run a cross breeze in the morning. With out those two actions I don’t we’d be nearly as comfortable. But this device brought him from panting off and on to now-> no panting. It works ????

Sufficient unit

Cools best with ice but range is not large and only provides minimal cooling in extremely hot temperatures. Definitely not really going to cool a large space.

BROKEN WITHIN 2 MONTHS!!

The media could not be loaded. I bought this air cooler on May 31 and now it’s been less than 2 months but the product is going downhill already. As you can see, the control wheel is not even controllable, I’ve tried my best to turn the wheel but it just wouldn’t do anything. And there are 2 missing spots on the controlling screen as you can see so there’s probably something wrong inside the system. I’m deeply disappointed right now and I demand a solution or a refund of the money that I paid for this product.

Attractive, but does not perform.

This is simply not powerful enough to do even a 10’ by 10’ room. The fan and the air coming out are not fast nor cold enough to impact temperature. It really joust a fan that might humidify the air slightly. It does not justify the price point at all. It’s too bad because it is compact, easy to use, and attractive. It just doesn’t perform, which is the real reason we purchase these tools.

Quiet and does the job

When I first saw this product thought this would be perfect with the heat wave at the moment and getting home from work and having this on cools me right down and wish I had know about this product when we last had a heatwave and it’s quiet as anything would tell my friends and family to buy without any issues my only downside is the price is a tad high

Excellent complement to an A/C

I almost returned this unit at first: it doesn't do much on its own in a hot room. But I gave it a chance and have found that it is an excellent complement to my floor model A/C which struggles to cool my whole unit. I use the evapolar as a *complement* to the A/C to add cool air to corners - like my desk area, my kitchen or bathroom. I like that it is easy to move around and put into the space where I'm working and impatiently waiting for the A/C to reach. Do not expect this little thing to REPLACE an A/C: you will be sorely disappointed. Expect it to effectively blow cool air on you and add a boost to another cooling system.
