Great hands on cards for learning

Love these cards. I like that there are different formations for some of the letters such as l.

Irregular sizing

My special needs 6yo with vision impairment made outstanding progress with the uppercase, so I went and ordered the lowercase. Was really disappointed to find that the size of these letters is not commensurate with the uppercase (you couldn’t put them side by side and see that the lowercase are smaller, or spell a word with a capital first letter and have it look correct. Also, the direction lines (which we aren’t using) cluttered up the area a lot and are unnecessary—the instructor should know how to form the letter and guide the student for that part. Finally, there is an extra ‘t’ and ‘l’ for 28 letters (one with straight line and one with curved bottom), but there isn’t an extra ‘g’ or ‘a’ which are much more varied and hard to recognize. Not a huge deal, but I thought it was odd to have those letters in there twice. I guess based on how you want the child to learn to form those particular letters?

Worth the money

I use these cards with my k-3 students with special needs. They are very durable, I’ve had mine for a long time and the sand is still on the card.

Nice alternative to traditional Montessori materials

The product and idea is great. However, the quality is lacking. These area nice, thick cardboard "flash card" with the letter pasted on in sandpaper. There is also a black arrow showing which direction to trace the letter. These cards are based on traditional Montessori materials and are a cheaper alternative. The ones used in a traditional Montessori classroom wood be solid wood, not cardboard. Better quality, yes, but also much pricier. These are a great overall value, but do be prepared to re-glue the sandpaper on. They tend to fall off easily.

Very Nice

These letters arrived as described. They come nicely packaged in a tidy and sturdy box. The sandpaper texture makes for a sensory experience while learning letter recognition and formation for emergent readers and writers. There are two alternative forms of the letters "t" and "l". Works well for Montessori method. The description here says "sold as a set of 3" which might be misleading. It is only one set. The other two sets (upper case letters and numbers) are sold separately.

Good for early learning

We just bought these for our homeschooling classroom. They are very sturdy and I like the box they come in. The kids didn't seem especially thrilled with them (ages 3 and 5), but I guess that's more of a personal preference. I have only used them one time, so I'll be waiting to see if the sandpaper falls off like the other reviews suggest.
