Sturdy, and kiddies love them

These sturdy figures were originally marketed to schools and day cares, so they are meant to stand up to hard play and abuse. Children can stand on them, throw them, pound with them, and they will hold up fine. We've had them at my library where I am the children's librarian for two years, and they are like new. We also have the community helpers set. I like the diversity, both of ethnic groups and of gender roles. The only two things I don't like about this set are 1) the boy in the wheelchair has a ball, which sometimes interferes with what the children are imagining when they play with him. For instance, if they are pretending he is at a wedding the ball is not appropriate. The second thing is that they keep thinking the girl with an eye patch is a pirate, which is kind of cute, actually. I bought this set for our 3 year old girl, and four year old boy. I noticed when their GG (great grandma) was using a walker after surgery they played with the walker lady a lot, and referred to her as GG. So, these figures could be used either just as a general way to help little ones understand differing abilities, or to help them specifically process their feelings if a loved one has health changes that requires a wheelchair, walker, etc. My real kids at home, and my library kids, love to play with these figures.

Great toy, isn't really flexible

These are Great! The only thing is I wish the company would make the ppl younger like elementary through middle school aged. Also, I wish they would make the ppl be able to move their arms or legs not stuck together like statues. People with disabilities are not statues, show all that they are capable of. Maybe add some items that they use and pictures of how they use every day objects. Could start a whole collection. The kids would like a toy more if they could move it a little more. Action hero's with disabilities.

Great idea

These are wonderful figures for children to play with. There were 3 that would not stand up on their own so frustrating for little ones to play with.

As expected

I only gave 4 stars because my daughter didn't seem to have much interest in the figures once they arrived. I thought they would make a nice addition to her Barbies with disabilities collection, but I was mistaken.

Love these!!!

Thank you for making & selling these dolls! My 3 year old daughter plays with these as much as she does her other dolls & it is so good to expose them to the differences in others & include them in all things!

Strong chemical smell

I wouldn't feel comfortable allowing a child or anyone handle them due to the strong chemical smell. I was able to eliminate some of the chemical odor by soaking figures overnight in a solution of water and baking soda then adding white vinegar in the morning. Once the "bubbling" stopped, I washed the figures with Dawn dish soap, thoroughly rinsed them with warm water and let them air dry. The scent still emanates from them, but isn't as strong. I plan to repeat this process until the smell is gone.
