Does what it’s supposed to

Good, but the nut is too small.

This cable gland has a long enough thread to work in a boat's center console, and the variation in the diameter is enough to easily allow a cable to pass through, then clamp down for a water-tight seal. The only issue I had was in the diameter of the threading vs the nut size. I am well equipped with tools, but I did not have a bit that was big enough to accommodate the threads, but small enough to be fully covered by the nut. I had to create a bead of 3M 4200 on the nut flats to seal the joint.
