Loud

I read the reviews and knew a lot of people were complaining about how loud it is and it is loud. I’m not concerned about that since it’s not something that will be continuously running. I’m more concerned with it keeping moisture out of the bathroom since we’ve had moisture issues in there prior. Seems to be holding up so far

Very versatile no more humid bathroom

Old bathroom came with no ventilation. Problem is our old mobile home wall was only 4 1/2 inches thick. I was able to rivet and cut back the exterior damper (witch I upgraded to a metal one and make everything fit and work perfectly with the little space had to work with. Pulls plenty of air can definately see and feel a big difference in that bathroom

Works well.

Fan was placed in small basement bath with shower. No good way to vent to outside due to all concrete construction. Vents to larger den area with dehumidifier to remove basement humidity. Tested and works as intended. Countdown timer placed to control fan so it will run significantly to remove bath humidity. Fits 4.5 inch wall perfectly without any extenders ( .5 inch drywall, 2x4(3.5in), .5 inch drywall). Noisy and vibrates wall a bit. Small bath contributes to noise level. If original construction, blocking could be used to reduce vibration. Otherwise, very satisfied for function and price point.

Small but mighty good suction

Very nice,solid and compact little unit that I installed in a vintage (small) bathroom in a 1920s house that I have been refurbishing. Very tight quarters with very limited access for any overhead ductwork. This unit fit snugly between a wall stud and a window framing stud and connected easily to an existing circuit for a porch light on the outside wall next to that window. Not much else would have fit there. Keeps up with shower steam better than most overhead fans. It is a little on the loud side but not too bad and that's a small price to pay for the effectiveness of such a small unit. Everything needed for the install was in the box.

Good fan

If you need a through the wall fan, this is a good choice. Fairly easy to install. A little scary to drill a 6 inch hole through an outside wall but, once you find a good spot, the rest is easy. Be aware, this fan is not quiet. Mine reads 70 decibels next to it and 60 about 6 feet away.

Not for within 4 to 6 feet of kitchen stove re company: dangerous

This was listed as one of the very best kitchen exhaust fans of 2022 but cannot be used near the stove according to Broan. So I cancelled the order and ordered the 509 with removable, washable grease grill for 9 1/2 " filter for 8" exhaust fans. I talked with their technical staff and Broan customer service is great. Stove proximity warning should have been included in description

Perfect for a small bathroom, not loud but very efficient

I did a lot of research before purchasing a fan for our small bathroom. The one we had didn't work very well, was loud as a jet turbine, and took forever to dissipate steam. I looked at all sizes, price ranges, sone levels but decided on this one based on reviews. It was relatively inexpensive and simple--the fan, a flexible round metal duct, and the outside flap/grill. At first my father (who was helping with the install) thought it wouldn't fit the stud wall space, but after cutting the metal duct considerably and taking into account the thickness of the siding, it fit just fine. All we have to do is caulk around the flap/grill outside. For us, installation was easy since we are ripping our bathroom down to the studs, so cutting the opening to be a little larger (as our old fan ducting was smaller) was really not a problem. However if we had tile on the wall already and we wanted the fan to vent the same way through the wall, it would've been a nightmare....if that were the case we may have decided to vent through the ceiling. But since the slope of our roof is so severe, we would've needed a different kind of flap for the outside. See the pics for reference (disregard the brown streak on the flaps outside-- we had a torrential downpour and our gutters overflowed.. that will wipe right off). All in all, this was a great buy. We have used it many times now and NO steam stays in the bathroom during a shower at all! Very happy!! We paid full price for this item and would highly recommend to others.

Fan works after straightening some of the metal housing

I got this fan for my bathroom. Seems to move the air well. I opened it up months after I purchased it. The fan itself works pretty good after some fixing. I think it may have been damaged during shipping. The housing for the fan was so bent it wouldnt allow the blades to spin. The part that screws to the inside of the room was really bent, like folded right over. I'm pretty good at fixing things and after about 30 mins of working on it I got it back to almost new. I would hope nobody would put a fan in the condition it was in into a box for sale. Maybe some styrafoam packaging for safe travels

easy install

I did not like the aluminum duct. It breaks apart & dents very easy . Suggest this duct could insulated flex pipe. I replaced the duct with that

Good for bathroom

Installed in downstairs bathroom and the fan works very well. It pushes a lot of air and takes the humidity out very quickly. Easy to install w/o needing to be up against a stud.
