Great bit with extra-extra length!

After receiving this drill bit, I discovered they actually sent me one that was 12" long. Thank you! The only problem is the drill end is round and will slip, so you should simply use a grinder and create 3 flat sides on that end....problem solved. Great bit and just what I needed.

Need a 12 inch bit?

I needed a 12 inch bit. Couldn't find one on Amazon but began reading the reviews of this "SIX Incher" and found so many folks saying they received a Twelve Incher, I just ordered it. Yup, 12 inches. Sooooooo, there ya go. Three Stars to attract attention so the descriptive text can be corrected. Just arrived, will follow up when I use it. Just have one task for this thing, it should survive. Hope.

12" not 6"

The wobble at the end of a drill bit increases with its length. That's why I ordered this bit, said to be 6", not 12" like the usual long bits out there. But the description is wrong. The thing is a foot, like all the rest. And the wobble is pretty bad, even in my precisely machined Makita drill.

Long drill bit just the thing

I needed this bit to finish a job that required very long straight thru holes for a lag screw joint. Worked great. Was too long for my drill press, would not fit between the chuck and the pedestal so I ground off 2 inches. Worked fine, part of my collection now. Will buy again. WJM

Not the best long drill bit - but it gets the job ...

Not the best long drill bit - but it gets the job done. The shaft of the drill will flex under light pressure - less than 15lbs which makes the bit walk along whatever material you're drilling. I was going through 1/16" mild steel (non-hardened) and it took quite a bit of force to even cut through. I was worried I would snap the bit but with some patience it finally cut through. There are probably better drill bits out there, but I couldn't find them at this price. Next time I will spend a bit more and get a stronger/better product.

it's fantastic for drilling channels for grounding wires in guitars, normal drill bits aren't long enough to do that. I'd buy it again if the one I got ever got too dull or broke or bent or whatever

A bit better: a better bit.

Sharp, true, and durable. The flutes are short, which is a double-edged sword: it's a curse because it means you have to back out frequently when drilling deep, but a blessing because the bit is stiffer and less likely to break.

Worked great to drill through my wall
