Shower filter

This thing has worked wonderfully and the reduction in calcium and sediment in my shower head shows it. Only reason it wasn’t a 5 star is for the length of time it took to get the charcoal grain to stop and adjustments for leaking but I will be buying a new filter replacement soon. Happy overall.

Good filter and easy to install

Sometimes has black for the first few seconds but unless you’re insane you probably let the water heat up so it’s not a problem at all. It has made a huge difference in my home! Definitely going to get this for my other showers.

So many people complain about leaks and black soot - RTFM!

User error. You have to finger tighten it enough to compress the washer. If it still leaks, you haven't used enough teflon tape. I installed two with no leaks whatsoever. And people complaining about the black soot ruining their tub: this shows you they didn't read the manual. It clearly says to drain the water into a bucket after first installing to flush out the loose media. I've had the more compact cheapo off brand shower filters before this, but bought these now as a replacement. I'm happy with them so far. It does decrease chlorine smell at least a bit. But our water didn't smell too much to start.

Disappointed

I have so much to say about this product. First of all, I'm from Austin, so I have high expectations of any business that operates out of Austin, or is based in Texas, in general. I started looking into water filters when my elderly husband was hospitalized a few years back. He was being treated for lymphoma but also has COPD, NTM, Bronchiectasis, and arthritis. Immunocompromised. We live in Southern California and rent a small cottage on an avocado grove. The landlord would not allow us to install any type of whole house filtration, even after showing her the city's latest water report. After doing a lot of research I found this product, but could not buy it in any store in San Diego at that time. I originally wanted to purchase the unit with the shower head attached, but Amazon restricted shipping it to CA (thank you very much). That's when I called the Aquasana warehouse to order. The person to whom I spoke was kind and professional but had no knowledge of this and could offer no explanation why the product couldn't be shipped to CA if purchased from Amazon (the unit with the shower head attahed).I received the filter and held onto it for months before having a friend come over who could replace our shower head pipe (it needed to be higher) and install a shower head with a hose and also the filter. Our stall is small so the set-up wasn't ideal. After six months I ended up ordering just the showerhead from Aquasana- it sucks! Basically, all the settings sort of meld together into a water trough. Lastly, I have never noticed a difference in my skin or hair. I had such high hopes! Just sayin.

Works well

This filter works well. It's a reputable and established brand, as opposed to the vast majority of cheap Chinese shower filters that have shown upon Amazon in the past 10 years or so. For over 25 years I've used the Sprite filter, which is perhaps one of the first on the scene. They work well enough that I've used them all that time, and over ten years ago I bought one for family members (with sensitive skin / eczema) who are very happy with them and continue to use them to this day. The Aquasana is quite a bit bigger, although because of the design it doesn't lower the height of the shower nearly as much as the Sprite (and the many Sprite knockoffs). It has rubber washers on both the intake and outlet, so there's never any need for plumbing tape. The attachment fitting rotates, making it easy to screw on without having to rotate the entire filter. Because of the bulky shape of it there are shower setups where it simply won't fit, such as showers that don't have a pipe sticking out adjacent to the wall. Some showes, for example, have only a downward pipe fitting, which are typically only around 1/2 an inch from the wall (aiming down, so it's parallel not adjacent to the wall), onto which a shower hose attaches. For that situation you'll need to get an inline shower filter or one that is in the shower head handle. I've not had it long enough to say how well the filter cartridge holds out. I expect that will partly depend on the amount of chlorine and other crap that's in the water, and obviously how much it is used each day. As a comparison, the Sprite cartridges usually work well for at least a year to 18 months with my meager single person shower habits. I expect the Aquasana will last that long too. Those who have multiple people households, and who take long showers daily, can likely expect to get 6 to 12 months. That's based on what the manufacture states.

Excellent

Silky smooth water that feels and smells like I’m at the Spa. Seriously though it seems to work just fine for the past week. We live in Massachusetts where there is high iron and manganese as well rusty water often enough. This filter cleans the water up sufficiently that I’m writing a positive review. I paid full price. The only negative is the design for a handheld shower head with hoses can limit the ergonomics of pointing the unit downward as it may contact the wall. Running 85-90 psi water pressure without issues too.

You can feel the difference

My previous shower head filter didn’t make a noticeable difference, but this one really works and is easy to install.

Easy to install seems to work really well at reducing water hardness and chlorine.A bit bulky so you may have to change your shower head.

I can tell the difference!

Water feels noticeably lighter and my hair is so much softer and less irritated. Highly recommend! Only thing I’d caution is that it wasn’t the easiest to install. I’d recommend using plumber/Teflon tape around the threads of the screw-in parts and a wrench. Once installed, it works really well!

This item is so terrible made that I don't even know where to start. It leaks from every possible place. By the picture you will see what I had to do to "fix" it. Now just leak a little. Totally not recommended. I had a replacement and second came exactly the same. So it is the procure design that is bad.
