Sleak and useful

Works great, will wear out eventually but only after pulling a few thousand corks. Very sharp appearance, always a fun conversation piece/parlor trick to show people

The best I've found! BUT

I used these when I worked as a waiter in Biarritz one summer surfing in Europe/Africa. They most all work great with cork, real cork. But they all stumble in the synthetic cork department. I trey to recycle real corks, so this is a great tool. And if it's a "grand vin", I like keeping the cork (until it gets lost or the dogs get it) for posterity- a whole lot more fun than trying to keep labels! But even this baby twisted on a synthetic cork, so I give it a 4 star rating. Bon Chance with yours. AND please DO RECYCLE CORKS!

Best for problem "Dry" Corks -- But Easy to spill wine on yourself

I'm still learning how to best use this puller. I have two total. On standard corks it could not be easier and blows a $150 ScrewPull away. My problem is I have a large number of bottles from one particular winery where nearly every cork has dried and is crumbly even though they have been properly stored. Poor cork quality filly came home to me. On a dry cork like those I mentioned this puller has no equal. All twist in pullers of all prices destroy the cork leaving a mess. These will pull the cork but they do have a tendency to push it further into the bottle on initial insertion so I removed a star. Also I sometimes have to try and work the puller farther down midway through the pulling process when it initially forces the cork farther in. Overall the standard screw in waiters cork crew is easier to keep from popping loose and getting wine on oneself. But for problem corks these Monopols have no equal.

Works with those soft corks. I have used it several times and it does not break those soft corks.

Perfect for pulling those pesky corks

The wine bottle opener arrived in a nice gift box; it is a quality product and is sturdy: was able to remove the cork easily without having to "shimmy" it much. Seems like it will last for years. The interior of the small metal storage case appeared to have a bit of rust, but it was due to copper discoloration. It is not an issue, however, for the price, I was disappointed that it was present. I wouldn't give this as a gift because of the case interior.

An Invaluable Tool - Highly Recommended

This purchase was a replacement of the same product which I had used regularly since I purchased it in 1973. YES 1973. The old one was broken by an individual who misused it. So far, the new one is an excellent equal to its predecessor. Before biting the bullet pricewise, and replacing my "Ah-so" with the original, I tried two lower priced substitutes which left me with spilled wine and destroyed corks. The "Ah-so", used properly, is the finest of tools, producing the excellent results expected. It is highly recommended for anyone needing to recork a bottle or ensuring no cork in the wine.

Saved our vintage bottle of wine!!

We bought this to open a 70-year-old bottle of French wine and were thrilled with the results! It worked perfectly, with only a few little bits of old cork in the bottom of the bottle -- less than the sediment of this great old wine. So the cork was nearly intact, and the wonderful wine wasn't affected. We'll be using this frequently in the future.

The Original Product Is Finally Back

Glad to see this back on the market. My 25 year old 'Ah-so' broke (my fault) and cheap imitations were used for a few years. Fun having once again a polished, all metal, two-pronged German made cork puller. Literally, everyone who has seen or used mine has gone out and bought their own 'Au-so'. Also it should be noted that the price has dropped significantly, at this time, compared to my original Monopol corking device.
