Might be more than you bargained for.

Turns out this was way too powerful for my 55 gallon tanks. I don't like coming home from work to see the sand blown to one side and every coral frag blown off their rocks. Likewise, in my planted tanks I found the plants literally laying to one side with this thing. If your outboard motor on your jet boat goes out, don't worry. Just buy two of these and let them dangle off the back of the boat. I truly wouldn't put this strong flow in anything less than a 100 gallon aquarium. The Achilles heel of this fan is the suction mount. I know fully well HOW it works, but far too often I come home to find its came loose from the glass. Personally, I'll pay 5x the price from here on out and just buy the Hydors with their external magnetic mount. Finally, any power surge or power outage seems to effect the polarity of the fan. You may find from time to time that it is sucking water in rather than blowing it out. Typically unplugging it and plugging it back in once, twice, or 500 times in a row resets it.

Powerful

This thing is smaller than other powerheads, but still very powerful. It's alllmost too much for my 55 gal. The only negative thing is you have to put it way deep in the water because it sucks water through the top, making a tornado and sucking air if it's too close to the top of the water. And by too close I'm talking like you have to put it 6 inches down. My cherry barbs have a ball riding the waves. Also, I got worried about little fish getting sucked into it because the openings are pretty big, so I just stuck a media bag over it and it's fine.

Overall great, but...

The media could not be loaded. I bought this to move around the water in a 40g breeder turtle tank. The reptile waterfall filter didn't create enough water flow. This power head provides a lot of flow (allowing the filter to clean the water better). Overall I'm happy, but there's two negatives; 1. A loud hum. This thing hums with power. 2. The cage around it isn't very good. There's large enough gaps to suck in and kill small fish. I lost several rosy red minnow feeders to this mini mangler (it slices, it dices..)

Good price, unreliable product

Bought for the price. Previously used JVP products in my other tanks to move around water. When working, this small wave maker pushed alot of water around. But, this model stopped working a little over 30 days after I put in my tank. Returning for refund. Good price and never had issues with JVP, but this one was defective.

Great powerhead for the price

wow! You definitely get your money's worth. I bought this to replace a broken Hydor Koralia 850gph, which I purchased 6 years ago for $42. I still have one Hydor 850 in my 75g saltwater tank. Put the SunSun powerhead in to complement the Hydor and its pushing out way more than the Hydor, and greater than 793 per hour, possibly closer to 1000. When I first mounted the powerhead it was creating whirlpools to the surface. Very Powerful! Moved it another inch down, pointed it slightly more towards the surface, and now I have no deadspots! If you're worried this might be too powerful for your tank, I suggest going down to another model. At a price point of $7.99 you can not go wrong with this powerhead.

800 gph perfect

Amazing. I have a 100 gallon bow front aquarium and this thing keeps a strong healthy currant in the aquarium. The suction cup is great if you operate it properly. I've read reviews saying it was too open in the front. Unless your little fish can fight against 800 gph worth of flow then they won't get in it to begin with. The only con about this for me was the length of the cord. Other than that I love this and highly recommend it. Update: 8 months later the suction cup has gave up. I've only moved this about 4 times since I bought it about 8 months ago and the suction cup will no longer stay on the glass.

Fantastic all around!

Love these powerheads. i was skeptical based on the price and i have yet to see just how long they are going to last but from a person owning both fluval and hydor wavemakers the quality is there. it feels very well built and HOLY CRAP the power! i was assuming that the gph was a bit inflated but if anything is not rated high enough. this thing flows! i have 2 fluval cp3 wavemakers that i transferred to other tanks and these things put out more than they do and they are rated at 800gph. I would highly recommend these and i will continue to buy the jvp-120 or the -110 based on my needs.
