My 5 year old son absolutely loved this costume. We bought it for Halloween and he also frequently asks if we'll let him wear it to the playground or just for fun. So far, it's stood up to several wash cycles. Overall, I'm impress at the quality of this budget costume. We appreciate the various little flourishes, like the straps on the arms and legs which add a bit of extra flair to the costume but are something that they could have easily gotten away with leaving off. Also appreciated that the costume is light enough to be worn in warm weather/ indoors but also has room to be worn on top of other layers in cold weather; so this was comfortable for my son both at a crowded indoor party and trick or treating at night. My son actually preferred wearing it on top of his jacket because he thought that the extra bulk looked like muscles, however this was too much for the velcro on the back which kept on popping open (nothing that a safety pin couldn't fix). Of course it's still a budget costume when you come right down to it. There a few aspects that would have bothered me if I had spent more, but did not at this price point. Specifically, the felt ninja stars were floppy and looked kind of silly, as well as the issue that I already mentioned about the velcro not being strong enough to hold it shut when worn with layers. But my son still thought it was awesome, and that's all that really mattered. It did not come with the plastic sword in the picture, but we easily obtained one for $0.99. However, they did through in a bonus plastic action figure ninja in a matching costume which my son thought was cool. One final note for anyone buying any highly rated budget costume from Amazon, be prepared to see several kids wearing identical costumes at school. The up side is that half a dozen ninjas playing together makes a whole lot more sense (and makes for better photos) than half a dozen Captain Americas, but good luck telling which kids is yours.

Great fun for play
So, we just got this in preparation for Halloween 2012 and it is pretty cool! Our 5yr old wanted to be a ninja and this one was pretty good looking for the price. With that being said, it obviously isn't made for lots of typical little boy play. It is a fairly thin (but typical) costume fabric. I wrapped and tied the red leg straps and after he took one lap around the house in it, they had fallen down...I will most likely safety pin them here and there so that we aren't having to stop every other house and re-tie them. My one problem I had with ordering this was finding enough about the size. Yes, the size chart is there, but I was hoping to find reviewers that had commented on the fit. I took a stab and ordered the Small...lets just say, that if it is cold for Halloween, I will need to put something very slim under it...perhaps long underwear or leggings...as there isn't much room left. My son is slightly larger than his average 5yr classmate...however, he isn't that big. He wears a size 6 and is 55lbs & 46", and the Small will only survive us this Halloween. So if you want more room (to grow into/use longer/or put warmer clothing underneath) you may want to consider choosing the next size up. Overall, he was very pleased with it, and I found a sword at the dollar store to go with it...not too expensive for Halloween and will get extra play out of it I am sure!

Our 5 year old was super excited that his wish to be a "red & black ninja" for halloween came true with this awesome costume! It fit him perfectly (with a little extra room to grow - or to layer clothes under it for trick or treating in the cold). The soft belt and stars are perfect for playing as well as comfort while he was trick or treating (the hard plastic stars would have been so annoying for him to deal with while he was "ninja-ing" his way from house to house). The fabric is light and breathable which is nice, as he now enjoys wearing it just to play around the house and pretend he's fighting evil. The only negative thing is that after just trick or treating around our community, there were a few snags and pulls in the fabric. Not a huge deal, as it's not noticeable unless you are close, but it didn't take long before some of those pulls turn into holes. If you are only purchasing this as a 1 or 2 time wear, its great, but I wouldn't recommend it for multiple wears (if your child likes dress up like mine does) as it doesn't really stand up to all the running around.

Only downside are the red ribbons intended to be wrapped around the calves. They won’t stay in place with movement. It would be better if they were fixed to the fabric or if the legs had loops for them to go through. Overall, great costume.

Misleading photo
I read the product details so I knew this costume did not come with accessories, BUT the picture leads you to believe you just need to buy a sword and you're all set. Nope, I bought additional accessories, but there's no way to attach them. The version I got my other son at Costco has elastic loops to slide a sword through.

Great quality and great look.
Really well made costume with nice accessories. This is definitely one of the better ninja costumes I've seen. The fabric and fit was perfect. It held together for halloween night and two school halloween parties, which is saying a lot, and the costume is still in nearly new condition.
