Good product
The wood quality is good and it is very helpful to adjust for the kids gate installation. The belts are large and string but if over bulled it can get loose over time.

This saved our odd sized hallway!!
The media could not be loaded. This was perfect for our misshapen stairway rail. It is huge on the bottom. The bottom is almost 4 inches at the base on each side and the strap still had an inch or so left before it would be out of space. Plus, the top part of the railing is not a circle. It's a fancy shape, that probably has a better name than fancy shape. It's like 6 flat sides. Of course it's not round. What's the fun in that?! We nearly gave up since our Dobie puppies think it's a game to see who can knock the gate down faster. All. Day. Long. Our opening was in between the gate sizes. 59-62 was too short and 62.5-67 was too big. Plus, the top was never big enough for the pressure mount to be stable enough to keep the gate sturdy enough. We decided this was going to be our last attempt. We can't drill because we were afraid to damage the railing and imagined the whole thing coming down if the gate was knocked down yet again. Our solution was this stair railing extension, which really became the stabilizer. Now the pressure is strong and gate isn't wobbly. We also used the round wall protectors because not only is the opening super wide but the stair railing is offset so the top is not perfectly in line. Meaning the wall wasn't built out far enough to be even with the stair railing. If it was a perfect straight line the round pressure mount would be hanging off the corner of the wall. These wall protectors doubled the size of the footprint of where we could apply the round pressure mounts so one is closer to the front door and the opposite side is closer to the back window. That allowed us to have a straight gate from end to end even though it is placed at different parts of the wall and opposite side railing. It is not the prettiest but it keeps the pups from tearing up the ENTIRE house. Now they are only confined to the main living spaces where we are most of the time. I hope this helps and wasn't completely confusing.

Great Product
This is a great product and worked very well for me. I have oak stair post and didn't want to drill into to them for the gate. I used this with their deluxe stair wooden gate and couldn't be happier. The only reason I did not give it five starts is that is did not suggest how to deal with decorative "knuckles" on the post. I tried using a block behind but that didn't work so I ended up cutting it below the knuckle so the gate latch is actually above the wood.

Nice for those of use that would rather not drill into our banisters
These are held by adhesive and pressure so no drilling. They were fairly easy to install provided you measure and plan well. It also helps to have the gate you will be installing there as well (i.e. don't install this and then buy a gate. Have all of it ready to go). They are nice and strong though they haven't had any significant challenges to overcome. My son is about 30lbs and can pull on this without it moving. We have the gate that is meant for this kit and they work well together. We are using the banister to banister installation method. The only downside is that they look pretty ugly compared to the normal look of the banister, but I can't think of a way that the manufacturer could have fixed that. Just install and use them as long as you need and look forward to removing them when your child grows up enough to not need them. I haven't tried uninstalling and reinstalling them, but they did come with extra adhesive patches so it should be pretty easy. Definitely recommend.

Good enough
Doesn't look too pretty but it's better than drilling holes in my banister! Wish the zipties come in black or brown.

Works Perfect!
This product was easily to install and makes the gate going down a set of steps, very sturdy!

I wanted to make the baby gate at the top of the stairs safe. This was not the answer.
We purchased this to make our baby gate sturdier and more safe. It simply gave us a false sense of security. The baby gate fell over if pushed too hard. We immediately sent it back for a refund.

Worked for our extra large newel post!
Our newel post is very large and square, measuring 5.5 inches on each side. I wasn't sure if this would work for us initially because the manufacturer says it fits posts up to 5 inches square. However, based on some reviewers saying you can use 2 of the included straps to make it fit, I decided to buy it and see if we could make it work. You CAN use all 4 straps on one side to make it long enough to fit an extra large post. This worked fine for us, as we only have a newel post on one side with wall on the other side. If you happen to have 2 extra large posts on both sides, you'd probably have to buy long zip ties from the hardware store and use those in place of the included straps on one of the sides. Worked like a charm and we didn't have to damage our newel post!

Works well, looks good, one concern
We installed this at the top of our stairs because we didn't want to drill into our balusters for our baby gate. The wood pieces are solid and don't appear as though they'll break easily. It's nice that there are essentially three ways to install this: 1) Use provided sticky back foam pieces to help secure plastic holder to baluster along with straps. 2) Use the straps to hold the plastic holder without peeling off the sticky back. 3) Drill the plastic holders into the baluster (which kind of defeats the purpose of no screws lol). Once you ratchet the plastic straps around the baluster, it's pretty secure. The only concern would be that the ratcheting system is also made of plastic, save for a few metal pins, so I would be concerned about longevity. But frankly speaking, you're probably not going to use it long enough to have them wear down or slip. All in all, solid unit, glad we didn't have to drill, would definitely recommend.

Fits and is adaptable for most railing setups
Set it up fairly quickly. I used it against a metal railing so it is not as sturdy as I'd like. The metal is a little narrow relative to the wood and quick ties assembly that is provided leaving the potential for wiggling and not functioning. See picture for how it worked. Also, I cut the wood shorter so it fit under the banister. Note - I'm not using forbchild, it's to stop my dog from going down the stairs so not as concerned about sturdiness.

Excellent product, but READ instructions before putting it on
This things worked really well at the top of our stairs. We only used one half of it, since we have a bannister to wall at the top of our stairs. It's really sturdy and high quality. The only thing I will say is that the instructions are not the kind that you can do as you read each step. I can't remember which step, but there was an important note on step 3, that applied to something I did in step 2 (backwards in my opinion), so I had to detach the sticky part and reattach. Turned out fine, the sticky stuff still worked just as good. Overall we're really happy with this banister kit.

DON’T. USE. THE. ADHESIVE.
If you ever plan on removing this thing, don’t peel back the sticker from the adhesive. The tension from the ratcheting straps should keep everything in place. Legally I’m sure they have to tell you to use the adhesive, but what the heck is the point of buying this kit (to avoid damaging your banister) when you have to adhere this extremely strong adhesive to it anyways?
