Wow! That was easy. "Alexa, Is the Garage Door closed?"

I've put off getting one of these for years because I didn't want to deal with installing it. Don't put it off! That was SO easy! I was done in about 30 mins (but took about an hour total because I'm a perfectionist and wanted to bundle the extra cable and strap things down perfectly). It was packaged very nicely. Each step of the install was in its own box in the box. The app leads you through the steps. I did all the WiFi setup and testing inside at my desk before going out to the garage. Outside, all you need is a ladder, screwdriver, and a damp rag. I ran the open/closed sensor wire along the chain rail to the top of the door and put up both sensors with two sided tape to start and then screwed them down after I found a spot that worked perfectly. The magnet is on the top edge of the door and the switch is on the front wall. Everything else is braindead easy. The little white box sits on top of the opener and plugs in to the same outlet as the opener. The tips of the trigger wire are heavily tinned so it was easy to stick them in alongside the wires going to the wall switch. The only thing to mention is that the Red / Black wires coming back from the sensor switch are swapped (i.e. Black / Red) with the ones on the control box, but the connector is keyed correctly...so just don't look at the wires and hook it up the direction that it fits. There is a lot of extra wire from the sensor switch to let you find a good spot. Alexa integration is so easy that I didn't even know I had started before I was finished. Alexa will check the status and close the door (the controller beeps loudly like a truck backing up while it closes), but to open it, Alexa prompts you for a four digit PIN that you set up when you connect the Meross app. Now, I can check that the garage door is down from anywhere, and in an emergency, let neighbors in without sharing keys or codes.

GREAT WIFI REMOTE CONTROL FOR US AUTOMATIC PATRIOT GATE OPENER

The US Automatic Patriot gate opener has a Wifi enabled remote opener using the NEXX app. Last week NEXX turned off the app due to security concerns or maybe they were hacked so I went out to find something new and different to install because my family and I were used to using out phone to open the gate, especially when we're not in the car. When in the car we have a visor clip opener option. I was able to install this and the app and integrated it with Alexa and Apple Home. We now can use our voice command at home with Alexa (Alexa will as you for a 4 digit pins that you create when you first set up) to open the gate. This is SOOOOOO convenient when we have friends come over to visit us. We just say "Alexa Open the Gate" then give the pin and the gate is open. What makes this BETTER than NEXX set up is this comes with two magnetic sensor you install on your gate so when the gate is closed it will show on the Meross App that the gate is closed. There has been times in the past where we accidentally pushed the NEXX app twice while while driving away and come back with the gate half cracked opened. Installation requires some basic handyman knowledge. The two wires from the device goes to Pin 2 (ground) and pin 3 (gate open/close) on the green circuit board. This information is not found in the installation instruction but I installed the gate and the NEXX device myself so I knew where the wires are supposed to go. Anyways.... NEXX is supposed to turn the app back on in a few days but that will only be used as a backup since this product is much better IMHO and more useful with better integration and the ability to know if the gate is closed or opened.

Works well, not perfect

Im happy with mu purchase, but this device is definitely not perfect. First off, I did need the additional accessory and knew this in advance, however, there was no way to have the accessory sent at the same time as the device, so I had to wait a few extra days to get everything. Next, the app needs a second to load when you open it. It looks like its ready to go, but if you click the open/close button to quickly after opening the app, it doesn't work. Lastly, occasionally the device just does not work. It will start beeping as if its about to close the garage, but nothing happens, then the app will let you know that the action failed. Clicking it for a second time always works. Good device and makes opening/closing the garage very convenient, but I think a software update or two are needed to smooth out some bugs.

Very Useful Product. Works as described. PIN Issue with Google Resolved

Great Product. Integrated easily with Apple phone and Alexa. You need to first setup Meross Account and then link it with either Apple Home, Google Home or Alexa Skill. I had issues with PIN not set with Google integration. I will describe how to sort this further down in this review. Remote operation by your smart phone assistant: The remote operation from your assistant will only work if you have a "Home Hub" such as Alexa EcoShow, Google or Apple Speakers or other compatible devices. Otherwise your phone needs to be connected to the same WiFi network as the Meross device. If you are hoping to ask Alexa or Siri to open your garage as you approach your home, bear in mind, you need the appropriate infrastructure. What if you don't have home hub? If you don't have a "Home Hub", you can still operate it remotely from the Meross App but not from smart phone assistant. Installation:- Installation is pretty straight forward. Took me some time to figure out where should I place the sensor. After lot of deliberation, I just installed it on the garage opener dolly (the thing form which the red emergency release string hangs) and it works perfectly. It also made it possible for me to run the cable right on the top of metal channel in which the dolly runs and run the sensor cable all the way to motor unit. Its almost made the installation invisible as I have also hidden the Meross unit also on the top of the Motor Unit. Connection with the the Tiltmaster 100 (opener) was straight forward. I needed to adjust the opening time in the the app setting, else it keeps giving a false "stuck" alarm. The opening time that you should set in the app should be 3-5 seconds more than greater of closing or opening time. In my case he actual opening time was 15 sec and closing time was 25 sec. I set it to 30 sec and the false alarms stopped. Google Integration Issue: After integrating your Meross and Google accounts, open the Meross App, you will see a a garage door tile in the app. Click on the white area of the tile (avoiding the grey garage image). This will open the device settings. Under settings, go to Amazon alexa and Google assistant and make sure PIN is enabled and then set the PIN. This should resolve the issue. PS: You need PIN for opening the garage and not for closing the garage. When you integrate this with Alexa, Alexa allows you to set a pin directly from the Alex App. I have also set the Alexa Eco Show to announce when the Garage Door is opened and Closed. Unfortunately, when the garage door is shut for many hours, Alexa randomly announced "Garage Door Closed" every 3-4 hours. I got jump scared at 3 am when Alexa made a loud announcement that "Garage Door is Closed". I disabled the close announcements there and then! The open announcements still work fine. There is a new firmware for the device after I installed it but so far I did not get an opportunity to test if it has fixed the random "closed" announcement issue . Hope this helps. Edit: 10 Sep 22 - The firmware update has NOT fixed the issue with “Closed” announcement

Fairly easy to install, works with Google Assistant, but can't control from Google Home...

Was pretty easy to install and worked straight away with my B&D unit (even though it wasn't on the compatibility list) - Meross support was great in getting me to test my controller before I purchased to make sure it would work. The Meross app is pretty straight forward and everything is working as expected. Two small issues I have: 1. Doesn't seem to be a way to open/close the door or get status from Google Home - right now it's just comes up as an icon with no functionality in Google Home app. You have to use the Meross app (or Google Assistant voice command) to get it to open/close the door or get the status. 2. Meross app doesn't seem to allow me to stop the opening/closing of the door once it's started - typically with the remote control I can click it anytime and it will stop the door - click again and it continues - with the Meross unit once you open/close, you have to wait until it completes - I can't stop it midway through

Works with the Stoddart SDO4 (Centurion SDO4 rebrand)

The kit comes with all the bits - plenty of double sided tape, a long cable tie, a door open/close sensor, a USB power adapter. To put it into the SDO-4, you unscrew the little Philips head screw above the mini-USB port. The outer cover will hang down, and you can release it from the hook at the back. There's a green connector in there with 4 pins. Connect the Blue wire from the Meross to the COM terminal and the brown line to the N/O (Normally Open) terminal. The reed switch which detects whether the door is open or closed can be placed anywhere where the door motion will break the magnetic contact. The long sensor cable then plugs into the red/black header on the Meross, although I noted that the red/black don't line up between the cable and the opener. It doesn't matter though. Works well. Install was 15 minutes, most of that was working out where to put the reed switch.

Spot on, easy affordable HomeKit opener!

Purchased the MSG100HK version. Unfortunately the HomeKit code provided in packaging on delivery, was wrong and caused unnecessary frustration and time. (Otherwise would be 5 ⭐️) This was resolved via email contact with Meross... albeit slow initial response of 7 days, though resolved with 1st reply! Otherwise easy installation and integration. Controlling my Steel-Line SD800 opener. HomeKit works as expected and even works with CarPlay, via on screen in car! Awesome.

Hopefully with Meross Smart Garage door opener, no more guessing whether the door is close/open

Hope this review may help others with Glidermatic GTS 2000 by Gliderol (Installed approx in 2011) not sure where the 2 wires from the hub are connected to "EXCON" (External Controller- I think). Checkout the photos Got it while it was on sale. If you don't use any Apple product, you can save $ and purchase the Non Home Kit version. Initial Setup (Android) 4/5 Not the easiest to set up but is acceptable. Have trouble to pair it to home wifi (tried 6 times) and finally got it done once I plugged the unit to a different wall power point. My partner also able to connect it to Apple Home Kit within a couple of mins. The App (4/5) Once is set up, it is pretty simple to use with notifications when is open/close. Managed to connect Smarthings app. The downside for me is I couldn't use voice control (Alexa App) to open/close the door. May be just me not able to keep up with technology. Haven't try google assist yet. The hub connection (3.5+0.5 same day reply/5) Have goggle around how to connect the 2 wires for my garage unit and wasn't much luck so I have asked the seller a question. While waiting for them, I managed to find a website which shows the exact connection! I was able to get it done before receiving an answer from them (They replied on the SAME day). I only had it for a day so can't comment the reliability and quality as yet! Will update in a month or 2 if any issue. Otherwise it means it is working as it should!
