Wonderful for beginners

My 8 year old grandson knows how to play and I needed to learn so I could play with him. THIS is absolutely perfect!

great little setup

looking forward to learning all the chess moves. Great items to facilitate learning. MY RATING We have used these knives quite a few times and they are nice. I would not say that they are as nice as the Henckel set we have, but they are still decent and can be sharpened when needed easily. The handles are easy to grip and they perform well in all of the food prep for meats and produce Star Rating System (What do my star ratings mean?): 1 STAR - Completely unusable, would request a refund 2 STAR - Meets minimum viable product requirements, wouldn't purchase it again 3 STAR - It does what it should, but in a non-spectacular way, I may recommend it, but definitely with reservations 4 STAR - I like it. It is solid quality and delivers as advertised, I would purchase it again and recommend it to a friend 5 STAR - I love it. Great for learning how to play

This chess set is great for beginners or people just learning how to play. The pieces have diagrams that remind the players how each piece can move and there are cards that help explain other aspects of the game. The only reason I took off a star was because the cardboard gameboard is very thin and cheap. Also it does not lay flat. If you play on it a lot or fold and unfold it I would expect it to come apart fairly quickly. Since this set is for beginners to figure things out I guess they assume you will get a more legitimate board once you decide if you like the game or not.

Helpful for kids learning chess

Have been teaching my kids chess. This is a helpful tool that they can quick glance at the moves of the pieces. The instructions are good and helpful.. beginner or the occasional player. This set us a good size for the kids and feels well made. We have a glass set, but it's hard for the beginner to remember each moveset. Glad to have them interested in something besides their electronics.

Best Set For Teaching Child To Play

Using this Spin Master set, my daughter, who had zero chess knowledge was able to pick up the game and play meaningfully in under an hour. The markings on the bases are a genius idea. They allowed her to quickly remember how the pieces move and so there was minimal confusion about that and she was able to focus on the game itself. The markings have also helped reinforce her knowledge upon subsequent plays. She has looked at the included cards, but honestly she didn't need them to get going. The set itself is sturdily constructed for a beginner set,and has a great color scheme. I would highly recommend this set for learning the game.

A Great way to Introduce Chess to Children

This is a great system for introducing chess to children. We bought this for our daughters to be able to learn the basics of the game. It comes with lots of instruction cards explaining the basic movements and rules of the game. What I especially liked was the removable bases on the chess pieces that show the moves, that piece can make as quick reminder. As they progress, those bases can be removed for a standard chess set. Overall a great way to make the game of chess approachable and easy to learn.
