Neat fix to my problems

Just had ankle surgery, Achilles tendon stuff so there is a gnarly wound/ scar that dries out and is sensitive, with a bit of lube and this thing helps out nice at night. Worked well at work too the one time I used it there.

It works for what it is

For clarity, the Silipos Achilles sleeve is not a compression sleeve or an Achilles brace. It is not form fitting, it won't aid recovery, etc. It's a tube of cloth with a thin gel pad that runs from the back of the heel to halfway up the Achilles tendon and serves one purpose: to protect your Achilles tendon from getting irritated by the back of your shoe or boot. And it works pretty well. When I first opened the package, I was underwhelmed. It really is just a thin cloth tube with solid gel pad glued inside. The gel is not sewn inside a pouch, either; it's glued to the fabric. The fabric is thin and loose and only stays up when you wear it inside your sock. I was sure it would fall apart the second time I used it. However, I have hiked about 60 miles of mountain terrain so far and the device shows no wear. I've had mild-moderate problems with Achilles tendonitis for a while now, and the Silipos sleeve offers surprisingly good protection. Yes, you can drop $70-$100 on a proper Achilles gel brace--which you should if your pain is bad or chronic. You might struggle to fit your foot in a boot with those bulky things, though, which is a problem you won't have with this sleeve. If it lasts me until the end of spring (~250 miles of hiking), it will have been worth the money.

Way better than heel cups for haglunds

I'm surprised. I bought both this and heel cups for a really bad tendon inflammation I was having due to haglunds / heel spurs on the back of my foot. This sock was perfect. It padded the parts that needed to be padded and lightly compressed the parts that needed to be compressed. It was comfortable to wear over my sock and didn't squeeze my foot too much. I could easily wear it all day. I have large and swollen feet and it was one of the things that helped me recover. I really appreciate the folks who make this sock and I'm happy to be walking much better now!

Helps!

The back of my heal every once in awhile acts up and it is painful to walk in my chore boots. I used to rig a gel pad behind my heal but it never stayed in place. This product has the gel pad in it. I slip the sleeve over my sock and put my boots on and it helps tremendously with the pain, and it stays in place. I wore it for 2 weeks morning and night for about 2 1/2 hours (5 hours/day) before my heal felt good again, and the product stayed in perfect shape. I just used it again this morning. Would definitely buy again. As far as price, it seems expensive, but if it works, it's well worth it.

Okay but not perfect

My husband got this for his heel ankle and the material after 3wks is starting to wear out. He needed it for the gel heel protector which it does help but might not last for much longer.

Great product

Great product. I recently was placed in an orthotic boot due to Achilles tendonosis. When I first wore the boot it rubbed up against my Achilles and created more pain. My doctor recommended silicon gel pads and I found this online. It worked great to cushion my Achilles in the boot. My orthopedist even liked it and inquired about where I got it. It must be a common complaint.

The reason I gave this only two stars was because of the following. The sock part was wonderful. Nice and roomy and didn't compress my foot like the others that I tried. The silicone pad was thin enough that you never felt that when wearing. That was the downfall of this product. Not even a week after I started wearing this, the thin silicone pad started to release from the actual sock. So if you want this product to last, it's not going to. They would have been better on doing a double layer of the fabric and putting the gel pad inside. Then I feel that this then would not be an issue. And for the price that this was, I was expecting it to last much longer than a week.

Tendonitis relief

This has really eased the tendonitis in my achilles tendon. I might give this five stars if it continues to work. Not sure how long until the gel runs out.
