Built well, but kinks easily
I didn't feel like soldering when I installed a new water heater. The one the house came with had no shutoff valves at all so I bought two of these so I could have shutoffs on both the inlet and outlet. They were simple to install, though I had to get the torch out anyhow as I had to smooth out a solder drip as these won't work unless the pipe is perfectly smooth. They both worked fine but as the new water heater was taller and the ceiling is only 7' in the basement, these were a bit too long. I tried to bend them but unfortunately unlike the stiff corrugated style of water heater line, these are stainless braided with some kind of soft flexible inner lining, and they kink very easily. I ended up having to rotate the water heater slightly to keep them curved in such a way as to not kink. If you're installing in a low space, make sure that you have enough room for the length of hose provided or you might find yourself in a tough spot. Also keep in mind that these rotate freely on the pipe you mount them to, so the shutoff valves may end up rotated in an odd place to reach if you aren't careful while tightening down the fittings to the water heater. You may have to hold the hose while tightening to keep them from spinning.

I'm a fan
I've made several compression joints and never had a problem. But for this job i needed to cut the line to add a shutoff valve and then remake the connection all in a short distance. Having the valve and a push to connect fitting all in one piece that was the same length as the original hose greatly simplified the installation. And nothing leaked so I'm happy.

Great for hooking up to the cold water supply to the hot water heater
My daughter and son-in-law just bought a house and the hot water heater did not have its own shutoff valve and we needed with work on it. This came handy after I cut off the main water supply to the house, cut the 3/4” copper water supply line and installed this in a matter of minutes. Super easy to use and install.

It works!
I'm no plumber, a 2x4 builder at best , and I couldn't get a plumber to come to where I live to install two cut-off valves on my water softener, so I took a chance with two of these items. I cut each copper pipe ( in and outflow) , cleaned the ends, and held my breath as I pushed the valves with the Pex fitting onto the open ends. I closed the valves then turned on my water pressure very slowly - half expecting the newly installed valves to shoot across my pumphouse into the nearby wall. Nothing happened - no leaks! I closed them and connected the tail ends to my water softener and opened the valves again. No leaks...Nothing! They work! No soldering, no plumber, no plumbers bill. The connectors are heavy, solid, and appear to be very well made.
