So far so good!
Let me get something out of the way: these are somewhat large boots. In the pictures, they seem to have the same profile as my 6 inch Wolverine Guardians. The six inch vs. eight inch difference didn't really sink in, and I sometimes forget that my wide feet and skinny ankles make my personal footwear look a bit... exaggerated. I didn't have any luck finding these particular Rocky's in a brick-and-mortar location, so I tried on other styles to get a feel for the size. I wasn't expecting them to be as tall or as thick as they are. That out of the way, I've grown to love these boots. These 12 wides are actually wide! For comparison, I couldn't fit my feet into a size 12 Wolverine Guardian - they were too narrow. A size 13 was wide enough, but my two smallest toes on each foot were completely uncovered by the protective toe. I could easily bend my toes in such a way to have ALL of them uncovered. Not good! These boots are wide enough to fit my feet without being so long as to look like clown shoes. With the composite shank and toe, these are lightweight. Some boots are tiring to wear all day, but not these. Once they get broken in (took about two work days), they provide all day comfort with no fatigue. There are two reasons I gave it four stars instead of five: for one, they don't breathe quite as well as I'd like. Some of the thickness of these boots comes from insulation, and they can get kind of toasty. Without a lot of airflow, my feet can get clammy. They're great when riding the motorcycle, but less great standing around in a hot machine shop. Not a huge deal in the fall, but I'm not too optimistic about the summer months. The other reason has to do with build quality. I've heard mixed reviews about the build quality of Rocky boots. Anything from lace grommets failing immediately to the leather lasting half as long as a comparable Red Wing. I've had zero issues, but they're only a month old. I'm cautiously optimistic.

zipper digs a hole into your leg - a true deal breaker
This is almost the perfect boot if not for the top of the zipper wearing a hole into my leg. I decided to break them in with a 4 mile walk and discovered half way that the pain was excruciating. The way that the top of the zipper curves into your leg is a horrible design flaw. Other people complained about it in reviews, but I thought I could handle it.. not the case... Unzipping it or making the top very tight seems to deflect the zipper enough to make it slightly more bearable, but I've found myself just not using them now and 10 days later, I still have the scar from it on my left leg (and not on the right for some reason). Other than that, it is the perfect boot. my feet sweat more than Bates GX-8, but then again the GX-8 seemed like it kept my feet more dry than tennis shoes and this is fine as it still wicks the moisture away.. just don't expect to take your foot out at the end of the day and get foot rub offers from your buddies... at the same time, you won't be getting the floor wet with your wet socks (barely). the puncture resistance puts my mind at ease - i've had too many close calls with nails on my bates GX-8 which eventually let moisture somewhere into the shoe as a result. although i prefer a composite toe, i really like the carbon fiber toe because it just makes me feel special. the reflectors are nice to have and not too distracting unless a car is facing you which is great. for some, they might feel bulky. i felt like i could run around in my GX-8s but not these... or maybe i'm just getting old. regardless, i wouldn't go back to the gx-8 because i need that puncture resistance. overall, i can't recommend them because of the ZIPPER DIGGING INTO MY LEG.

water proof
Seem as though they will work. used for long distance motorcycling and cheaper than riding boots. Have worn Rocky's for year at work and have been very pleased.

Very Comfy, will outlast you.
Aside from those Italian boots they no longer manufacture,(confra)?(looked like military boots) these are the best boots for comfort, very durable only reason that I chucked last pair was because I couldn't get the funk smell out of them due to the OVERLY Humid heat of the DC area, after the second summer wearing 6 days a week! You will scoff when you open them if your used to the NUBUCK style work boots due to the strange material these are made of but they are very durable leatherish material? Been working in the field for 30 years now and have tried every boot under the sun and these will be bought until I retire in 7 years!

The boots are awesome! I’m a EMT and those that do the same line of work know of the long hrs. I’ve had many boots like magnum, Smith & Wesson and those boots made my feet feel like they were 50 yrs older than the rest of my body. From blisters to aches, you name it my feet claimed it. The Rocky boots are by far the best I’ve had and for the price amazon offers it’s a steal, literally.

Thank you!
Fits great. Was nervous about buying online but dont regret it one bit. Im on my feet all day and dont feel any fatigue. A little stiff but to be expected there brand new. Strong boot surprisingly warm in cold weather. And not as heavy as my other different brand boots which is a nice change. Very satisfied...

Disappointment
I work 12 hour shifts (5 Days per Pay Period) for an EMS organization that runs approximately 11,000 calls per year in a mostly rural environment. I bought these boots for their specifications and at was disappointed with my purchase. Not even one year later my boots are completely worn and in desperate need of replacement. Not even one month into use the toe of the boot began to show signs of wear and tear - not a big deal to me since I am usually busy. However, throughout the next few months other items began to separate including the inner fabric lining and soles. If you work for a low call volume service, or do not work often, these boots may hold up longer for you. But for me, this is a major disappointment. I am switching back to Magnum which have held up in the city environment I used to work in.
