These are so handy, I bought four of them...

I collect so many tools and bits and pieces, I run out of room. I try to stay organized, but usually fail. I bought one of these small tool boxes, and it helped me organize a bit of everything. I liked it so much, I bought three more. I'm still working the third one, with one in reserve.

Too small for a normal hammer!

Good Box

I bought two of these boxes -- I needed a couple tool boxes and these fit my budget. They are sturdy and the right size for hammers, pipe cutters, long screwdrivers, etc. I'm not crazy about the way the outer, top section fastens, but it's, probably, just a matter of getting used to it. That section is great for holding nails, screws, etc. I always find the inside top trays, in boxes of this type, a nuisance, because anything I use is (usually) in the larger/base compartment. So, I've removed the inner trays and will try them out as desk drawer organizers, or the like, at some point. I bought two because tools never seem to be in the right place, at the right time, when I need them. So, each is stocked with basic tools and in a convenient location. I'm happy with this investment.

Way too small to be of any use

I was looking for a small tool box, and seeing the dimensions of this thought to be perfect. But the listed dimensions are the outside dimensions. The box it self which is listed as 5 inch tall, has a usable inside of no more than 2 1/2 inches. The lid is about an inch thick, plus the tray that goes down into the box by about an inch, so can not put much in it. the latch is a flimsy plastic, pretty sure it will break with little use. Total waste of money. Have sent it back and try something else!

Decent size box for tools

My Granddaughter now has enough tools of her own to need a box to store them it. This works perfectly.

Poor Hinge Design. Overly economical molding.

Accidentally got two, but they're very inexpensive. I've liked other Plano products quite a bit, but this thing isn't very usable. Hinge pops off when opened more than 120degrees, on both units. Not very easy to put back in place, either. Inner tray on one of the two was badly warped. Worth the risk for the price I guess, but I wouldn't waste your time.

small and cheap

I was very disappointed with this box. I bought three of them as gifts. I partly based my purchase on another reviewer's statement that it would fit a hammer. I don't know what kind of hammer they had, but no standard hammers fit these. I ended up buying "stubby" hammers to go in. Opening and closing the lid often results in the hinge disassembling. It must be "popped" back together and carefully, slowly, lowered. The handle fell off of one. Upon delivery, one of the three units was missing its insert tray entirely. I don't think I would even use this as a sewing box, as some other reviewers suggest. Hoping this info helps you.

Perfect smaller toolbox

This was perfect for what I needed. I have a rotary tool that didn’t have the greatest storage case, so I thought it would be easier to have this to store all of the parts. It’s small enough for these items to fit perfectly but it’s big enough that if I were to use it for regular tools, it would fit a few necessary items easily. To be honest, though, I haven’t checked if it would hold a hammer, I suspect it may be a bit too short. My advice: measure your hammer before ordering this, if that’s the intended use.

Great little toolbox

I have a big toolbox in my garage, but it’s too big and bulky to bring into the house for little projects. This toolbox fits the bill perfectly. It holds all my tools, screwdriver, small hammer, measuring tape, and the convenient compartments at the top hold plenty of screws and driver bits. I love this toolbox!

Really Small

This thing probably shouldn't be used for tools, and instead used for sewing stuff or something. I knew it would be small when I purchased it but it's even smaller than I anticipated. I can barely fit any tools inside of it unless it's something very small. I use it under my sink in the kitchen for very few basic tools like a screwdriver and measuring tape. The top insert can only hold small screwdrivers or pens/pencils. It's OK.
