Cute but not the most stable

Gate looks great but we find we can’t secure it as much as we would like without it affecting the tension of the door preventing it opening and closing (latching) correctly

Do not buy from this seller

I like the style and that's it. I can't return the gate. The seller will not approve my return of the 1 out of the 4 gates I purchased from this person. The gate measurements are a little off-which was inconvenient and annoying. The material is not sturdy. My two year old shakes it during a tantrum and it gets all messed up. 2 out of the 4 gates don't remain open like they should. And the black gate I am trying to return does not close on its own like it says it does. Please let me return this gate.

High quality stylish alternative to the wooden adjustable gate!

The Perma Child Safety gate is made of a combination of high quality plastic and metal parts. It's very sturdy and a super stylish safe alternative to the typical gates that are out there! The gate took all of five minutes to put in place and it was fully functional. We are using the gate to keep the dogs out of my daughter's room while she is home on winter break with her babies (guinea pigs named Timon and Pumba). It looks absolutely beautiful and fitting! I did not need to use any of the included mounting brackets (along with screws) and foam pads for my application, but, you would definitely want to use them with toddler age kids to keep the gate secure. The gate has a two tier safety system. First, the latch, which once depressed, along with your other hand, you will easily lift the gate about an inch to swing it open forward or back. The sides and bottom do not lift, just the springy hinges attached to the gate. Really simple to do once the gate is firmly mounted in place. I wanted to point out that you will need two hands to open it. The safety feature in my opinion outweigh the simplicity. The gate when in the closed position is solidly secure at all four endpoints. Very sturdy and easy to clean. Safety wise, this would definitely pass the test. The plexiglass is thick plus the gate has that really neat two level security mechanism in place. It also swings closed automatically unless you click it to stay open at right around ninety degrees. Overall, I would without a doubt recommend this to my grown children as well as friends. First time I have ever seen a gate so elegant and fitting for a room with full visibility so you can see what's going on and your child is not looking back at you through bars.

Works

This works like a baby gate should. I was really excited about trying this because I needed something to keep my dog out of the litter box. I ended up having to set this higher and off the ground because my cat couldn't get through the sides like I thought she would be able to. So it worked but didn't work like the way I need to. However, for a baby this would be great! It's very easy to install and tighten to the wall. It did lose a star not only because it didn't quite work for me but also because of the sticky pads. It comes with 4 sticky pads that stick to the gate and wall to help protect the wall from any damage. They didn't stick very well. The gate was too heavy. You really should set this an 1/2 inch to 1 inch off the ground. However, I really like how you tighten and loosen the arms. You turn the plastic nut on the screw and it tightens and loosens it. I also like the door. It's easy to see through to make sure things are okay. The door is also really tight and doesn't budge easily. You have to slide the lock and then pull up to open the gate. It's also very sturdy and made really well. Overall, it's a great gate. It just didn't work for what I needed it for.

Very nice gate but has to be cleaned often

I really like this gate because we have a dog with severe anxiety disorder. As in, has to have eyes on her people at all times severe. This gate allows us to keep her contained when needed, such as when we're bringing groceries into the home or opening the front door for a delivery. Installation was not difficult. The gate is well-made. My biggest gripe with the gate was how dirty it gets. It's not the gate's fault that certain dogs feel the need to lick and snot all over it but I wanted to point this out if you think it might be something that is obnoxious. I haven't tried it yet with younger nieces and nephews but I imagine it's somewhat the same with kids. However, it's easy to clean, just a fast paper towel with a little spot of glass cleaner and you're good to go.

Walk Through Baby & Pet Gate

The thing I love so much about this gate is the fact that the door is a transparent plexiglass. It was a little bit difficult to install and I am definitely going to need to order the extenders for the sides of this gate as it just barely reaches each side of the first step of our stair case. Because of this, it does slip and slide around. It can also be difficult to open at times since it is new. When open, it can sometimes come out of the bracket that helps hold it on the wall. I also highly recommend screwing in the circular holders in place because the adhesive it comes with took the paint right off my walls and stair case post. Still, it really helps keep our pets and kiddos from heading upstairs without supervision. I do think this gate will work much better once we have the extender for each side.

Tricky

This baby gate does it’s job but there are a couple of negatives. Firstly it’s a clear piece of plexiglass which means if your dogs lick it or touch it with their nose or if somebody has sticky fingers and touches it it shows dirt and smudges everywhere (so if you care about that you’ll be constantly cleaning it). The second negative is it wasn’t the easiest to install. Now it could be that we have a house built in the 40s and the door jams are not even or flat so that could’ve caused a problem but it was incredibly hard to get this to a point where the gate would open without some kind of brute force. And even still some adult members of my household have a majorly difficult time opening the gate once it has completely closed.
