Leaks Air

As soon as installed. a hissing noise could be heard. Sprayed with soapy water and found the leak to be between the housing and the fitting. Cant fix a leak in that location. Not a huge issue knowing I will have to disconnect the tool its assembled to (sand blasting cabinet) when done. but would be nice to not have to worry.

Works ok, but it does seem to function a bit better if you can get the purge to point downward when it’s screwed in. Overall seems like a good purchase so far.

Great for my plasma cutter

Keeps the muck out of my plasma cutter well; I punch the drain button every ten minutes or so of cutting time, and moisture (and probably a little oil) clearly sprays out. Seems well-made, no issues after several hours of use.

Minor things to know about it...

Why 4 Stars? Ok, it's a separator and I imagine it works :) 1. No flow indication (found out through the seller - seems counterintuitive) 2. Not really what I was wanting (my deal, but the flow direction changes it...) 3. A little nervous about when the hose torques it around - time will tell. Alrighty, this is NOT for the main connection! This guy is made for the individual tool - REPEAT, NOT FOR TANK, BUT FOR TOOL! The male side threads are cut a bit sharp, but that's ok - I just use five turns of PTFE tape, rather than three (They give that stuff away in every air-kit, so I have plenty) As a result of it's placement on the tool (a paint cup in my case) it will be torqued and moved, and it makes the connection longer than I would like - but that's a preference thing (I could get another swivel I suppose) - this is why I am a little concerned about it's durability, air hose has a way of "pointing out" the weak connections in the line. Who knows? Might outlast my hose and HF connectors! *NOTE TO SELLER!! I don't think it will go anywhere, but you could tell the manufacturer to spend a few hours with a diegrinder on their molds, just etch in a little arrow for flow direction, it's a pretty standard practice with this sort of thing, and would increase the presentation of the tool :) --I doubt they'll care, but it would be rather professional if they did. Seller seems fine, and the thing is popular on Amazon, so who cares what I think! Thanks!

Easy to Install and Use

I needed this for my small 5 gallon compressor tank to remove the water. The one that was originally on the tank broke a long time ago. Since I just use the compressor to mainly fill tires I did not replace it. I have a new project that requires the use of a sand blaster and the manufacture recommends a filter of remove moisture. Plus you should just have one anyway. I like that this one is clear so it's easy to see when it needs to be emptied which is just a mater of pressing the button. It's not really made to be in a horizontal position, which is how it would, have been installed, so I added a few pieces of pipe to get it to around a 45 degree angle with the valve a the bottom so any moisture collects near the outlet and is easily ejected when the button is pressed. Seems well made and should last a long time. I definitely recommend this filter for smaller size tanks. Large ones that produce a lot of CFM might required a larger unit so you are not pressing it all the time.

Cracked Plastic Housing - Twice!!

I like the product based on its intended use. Regrettably after testing out the product for its first time within 15min of use the plastic housing began to leak air. Initially I thought it was the fitting on my gun but it was actually the housing that had cracked. The only downfall of the design is the bottom fitting screws into the plastic housing which makes it weak. Amazon was great in providing a replacement and so far I used it to spray primer, base and clear and it seems fine "so far" Hopefully it was only a defective item and this lasts me a long time before I decide to search for other options. Hopefully you guys have a good experience with the product and it doesnt explode on anyone's face as that was my main concern. Overall, I have a good system to filter air but this is my secondary measure in case oil gets through the lines. Well, after having resolved my issue with the first one I decided to give this item another try in case the first one I got was defective. Turns out after getting a chance to try this item out once again in under a month of spraying a few items for whatever reason it is it seems to always crack the plastic and this time it wasn't where the previous one failed. I seriously caution anyone using this because I think I was just lucky that it didn't explode in my face having shrapnels of plastic embedded in my face! I noticed the cracking around the housing in multiple areas as I layed down my spray gun and once I touched it this was the result in the pictures. It fell apart. I say again, I'm really lucky this didn't explode while it was a under pressure. I use a regulator before the filter and spray gun so 90- 120psi enter my regulator, then I bring the pressure within 25- 45 psi and yet they state that it's supposed to withstand 90psi but I wouldn't count on it. Twice this happened to me and I don't think I'll be trying this item again for my own personal safety! Hope this helps anyone else.

Does what it says but built quality is not so great

I added this to my compressor. It helps with tools but most importantly when you want to use the air only portion to clean electronic components. It seems to have filtered the water out of the air stream. Only thing is, it's of pretty poor built quality so you cannot tighten it too much because it will break but that means it leaks air a bit and the compressor fills quite often. So I removed one star for built quality. If you're rough with your tools or will be carrying it in a truck, this will probably break off eventually. Otherwise seems to work well.

Muy util

yo pensaba que no salia humedad ni nada a menos de 70psi y por usos muy cortos pero aun asi decidi comprar este filtro separador y ahora veo que si salia un poco de humedad y alguna que otra particula de tierra u otra cosa, los materiales son de muy buena calidad y muy facil de usar, se los recomiendo al 100%
