This style runs bigger

This style of Mephisto runs larger than others. After having sore feet for many years with many shoes types. I got a pair of Mephistos and the foot bed is perfect for my feet. In other shoes I would take an 8.0 or 8.5 and even a 9.0. But in a Mephisto's I take an 8.0. So now I have 6 pairs. I decided I will only wear Mephistos. I love them. As I needed a nice pair for dress / work. I got these. But was not happy. They felt like clown shoes. giant. I checked the box .. size 8. checked the shoes ... size 8. ?? I think the key is that most other casual shoes like the Match or the Walker, they have a small padding around the back. These do not. Of course they would not, they are dress shoes. But that missing padding makes your heel loose and move up and out of the shoes. Since I am firm on size 8. and would never go to a 7.5, may have to research other dress Mephistos.

Half size down for length

Order half size down from your usual Mephisto size (which means order size down from your EU size and 1.5 size down from your US size). The length was perfect but the width is slightly tight. It will probably stretch over time or if you use a shoe stretcher. There is a tag at the mid part of the shoe that is visible. It is kind of out of place for a dress shoe. It is quite comfortable but the collar slightly rubbed against my ankles.

Great shoes, be careful with sizing, they are normal length, just wide, don't be influenced by the reviews on sizing

These are fantastic shoes, much better than Alden's I have been wearing for comfort. The issue I have with this shoe is sizing. I ordered 11.5 after reading the reviews but in reality needed 12. The reviews say they run large, that is not true they run wide. I like wide shoes and did not figure out until after I had worn them a couple of weeks that in fact the length is standard and as I wore them I started to be able to tell that they were slightly too short so not as comfortable as they could have been. I ordered the Black in my normal size 12 and they fit fantastic. I guess the half size mistake I made is an expensive one, oh well I know now. Great shoes, be careful with the sizing, giving a 3 star for being fooled for size.

Yes, they are all that.

I admit I have an obsession with shoes , I blame it on my wife. I purchase well made shoes. Church's, Bally's, etc... so I am use to well made shoes. However, this being my first pair of Mephistos the bar was already high. Out of the box they are beautiful and they look expensive and the comfort level is off the chart. I wish I had purchased this brand years ago but I know now.

Always Comfortable

These are hard to find shoes. It's my second pair of Mephisto and they are worth the extra cabbage. They are super soft and the break in period is short. They fit kind of big compared to US shoes sizes. You may have to return at least one pair to get it right

Been using this for close to 3 years on weekend And I'm 11.5 EEE This is the best pair I ever owned Compare it to my redwing work boots If you want to buy it here and worry about the size go to a Nordstrom and try if it fits

Very comfortable, but runs one size larger

I've owned Mephisto's in the past and am amazed at the quality and comfort of the product. They do run a complete size too large though, so if you are normally a size 11, go with the 10.

Beautiful shoe.

The shoe itself is terrific - attractive and well made. We had purchased an identical shoe in brown in a store, so we thought we had the size down. This shoe was somewhat tighter, and so took longer to break in. Still very comfortable.

Great shoes, these are my second pair. I have worn the first pair for many years. The new ones fit very well at first wearing. Highly recommended.
