Usual Maxpedition Quality
I had this bottle-holder in my shopping cart's "save for later" section for several years before buying it, as I couldn't see spending the money for such a single-purpose item. Well, it _is_ pricey and it _is_ highly specialized. But it's still not all that bad a buy, either. The material is thick and tough-feeling as can be, and the layout seems practical and useful. While mine is mostly intended for use in a car keeping a roadside hot-beverage kit together I happen to also have another Maxpedition product with a shoulder-strap on hand, and when using this nicer, longer strap the bottle-holder carries surprisingly well. So well, in fact, that the holder may well eventually replace my older rectangular pouch entirely for "utility" type use. My only significant gripe is that the zipper in the bottle-retention compartment is terribly stiff, so much so that I almost returned the carrier. But I decided that it'll probably "break in" with time as other reviewers report. (I've heard that rubbing it with a crayon or candle helps, but sadly I have neither available.) This may be helpful to some of you... I bought this larger size bottle-holder specifically because I want to use a 64 oz stainless bottle. (Mine happens to be a Klean Kanteen, but there are other excellent makes of roughly the same length and diameter.) My Klean Kanteen fits in the holder perfectly, but I had an absolutely miserable time finding a cup/pot suitable for heating water that would nestle between the bottle and the holder without being such a tight fit that it'd wedge itself in place on one or the other. The Vargo 900 ml titanium cooking pot-- it's a short, wide 900 ml model-- does the trick. Yes, it's still a bit snug inside the holder. But acceptably so in my opinion, and maybe this, like the zipper, will ease up in time. This cup/pot also cost me nearly twice as much as the bottle-holder, sadly. But at least it fits where nothing else I found would work at all. I pack the bottle-holder by nesting the cup under the bottle with the lid (handle down) tucked flat on the bottom under both. This leaves room in the top for a Triangia-style alcohol burner, and along the sides for a 6" ferro-stick and striker, and a tea-ball-on-a-stick thingie also about 6" long. That leaves the entire side-compartment free for the burner's cross-stand, a little extra fuel, coffee/tea, sugar, etc. There's still room to spare in both compartments with everything aboard. Not a lot of room, mind you. But some. (Those who might wish to copy this setup should beware that it takes the stove about twenty minutes to bring a 3/4-full pot to a full, rolling boil. I'm actively looking for something both faster and small enough, but no luck yet.) At any rate, I'm happy I finally spent the money. It's been fun putting this project together, even if it went way over budget, and I'm confident that it'll see plenty of use.

Good product. Works well and is as described.
Short review: Good product. Works well and is as described. If you need a good MOLLE compatible bottle holder pouch, this will work well. You won't be disappointed. Long Review: The pouch is fairly easy to drink from. Containers slide in and out easily. The pouch has just enough rigidity that it stays open well enough to use one handed. It has a nice snug fit when attached to MOLLE. The proprietary attachment system Maxpedition uses on this pouch is easy to use and works well with MOLLE. The pouch will hold a variety of containers of different sizes. I attached photos showing it with a 20 ounce water bottle and another with a 38oz. Guyot Design bottle. The secondary zippered pocket is a nice size. It is a great pocket for flavor packets or water purification tablets or even a cell phone. In another picture I uploaded, it is shown with a tactical flashlight that is about 6 inches long. I haven't had it long enough to rate its durability. However, I have bought other maxpedition products in the past and they have had great durability. One bag I bought, I have used almost everyday for about 10 years as an EDC bag/laptop bag/briefcase and while it shows its age, it still functions as designed. The pouch appears to be well made and made from good materials. It has YKK zippers and appears to have good stitching. It is my opinion that this is a great water bottle pouch and is suited well for most environments whether it be EDC in town or on a backpack in the mountains. If there is one negative, I think most Maxpedition products (including this one) are a little overpriced. That said, I also found that when you buy their products, you get a well made and functional product for your money. I'd rather pay a little more than go cheap and have a item fail when you need it most. I can't say if this is the best MOLLE compatible bottle holder on the market, but I don't think you can't go wrong with this item. I doubt you will ever be disappointed by its functionality or durability.

Not a good fit for 40oz water bottle
Excellent product if you are carrying water bottles smaller than a 40oz hydro flask. Although a 40oz will fit, it will not sit deep enough in the pocket. The zipper tapers the usable space, making the last several bottom inches of the pocket unusable for a water bottle as large as a 40oz. You do have a "retention strap" which could secure your water bottle but don't depend on that to keep your bottle in the pocket if you are hiking or are moving around a lot. The molle straps are very well made and really easy to install. There is a bonus flat pocket behind the bottle compartment which can fit a large smartphone, wallet or keys but I would not recommend putting a smartphone right behind a metal water bottle. All in all, this is a great product for its niche use cases.

Perfect add to a pack
I got two of these to put on either side of my Maxpedition Vulture II, which needed bottle carriers as I don't use a bladder. Maxpedition also has another size of these, so you can pick which best suits your particular bottles. These are built like a tank. Fabric, zippers, cord, straps, drainage ability, all is standard tough high quality Maxpedition. Retaining cord keeps slide out down when you don't want it, don't use the cord if you want to just grab out your bottle (and remember to alter previously the front zip if needed before hand to allow easy movement out). Can use these for other fast pocket type needs. What I especially love about these pouches is that they can be pretty much closed in when not in use. No huge empty pouch hanging out. And while they are well built, there isn't a whole pile of extra stuff on them. Though there IS a zip secondary part behind it that you could stash some size phones or other thinner things--though realize that this may/will effect your front bottle pocket. Check sizing to see if your particular bottle will ride in it comfortably. Seriously love these.
