Waistband is a bummer

I have had several pairs of Manduka yoga pants and shorts. I usually go for their high-waisted varieties like the Essential pant. I took a gamble with this short, which is regular-ish rise, and for the most part I like it. However, I hate the recent trend of including those useless skinny elastic bands inside of the flat waistband. They are totally pointless, and they create an unflattering indent. I would love these shorts if it were not for that. I am a true M but have ordered size L before in Manduka and regretted it, so I don't feel that sizing up would solve this problem. The L puckers - it's way too big. But this M is not quite right, either. Maybe one day Manduka will size their yoga pants like regular pants and we could all rejoice and never turn to other, more expensive yoga brands again. Oh, the fabric is quite nice, though. It does the trick for hot yoga and I might like it for running, too. It's a somewhat abrasion-resistant material that still breathes moderately well.
