Lacks Truly Independant Light & Fan Control

While renovating our nursery, we installed a ceiling fan to be run by the existing 1-gang box. I quite dislike the cheap remotes provided by fan manufacturers, and wanted fully independent control of the fan and lights via wall switch. Only this Diva switch and the Lutron Maestro appeared to provide that capability, and we chose the Diva due to the rocker-style light switch being easier to locate and activate by feel. After running 14/3 Romex and completing the renovation, I am somewhat disappointed in the switch's performance. The switch functions, the rocker turns power to the fan on/off and the slider provides control for 3 fan speeds and an off position. However, the common wire for the fan control is only hot when the light switch is turned on - meaning you can only run the fan when the lights are turned on. Turn the light switch off, and power is cut to the fan also, regardless of where the fan speed control slider is set. So for those like us who wished to run the fan at night during the summers with the lights turned off, you're out of luck. This information is not provided in the product details, which is a disappointment. Having known this, we likely would have installed a 2-gang setup for fully independent control. Additionally, this control switch provides connection with the Romex via stranded aluminum conductors. We do not run copper wiring throughout our homes only to join them to cheaper aluminum switches and fixtures. Copper is not much more expensive and this switch is priced at a premium. Another disappointment.

The fan slide switch is a little difficult to manipulate

The fan slide switch is a little difficult to manipulate, it is small and need a little force to slide. Other than that I installed 3 of these switches in all of my bedrooms and they work great to turn things on and off at the room entryway rather than walking to the center of a room and turning things on and off using a pull chain.

Works like it should

I use the light more than the fan so it works quite well for me and it was a simple install. It includes the wire nuts for the connections. You need to get a faceplate, if you don’t have one. It is a little bulk so you'll need to move the wires to the sides of the box. Operation wise: Light clicks into place and the slider glides gently and lightly bumps @ various power levels for the Fan

Satisfied my need

This switch worked exactly as I wished. It allowed me to install LCD bulbs in a ceiling fan. I did not need to dim the lights, but wanted to control the speed of the fan.
