Great for fish and burgers
Ever grill high fat content burger (such as waygu), only to lose parts of the burger through the grill when you flip them? Ever grill fish only to have it flake to pieces and fall through the grill? Well this is your remedy to the problem. Pop this bad boy onto your gill, heat on high, then freely and easily grill burgers, fish, vegetables, and anything your heart desires without risking your food falling through the grill. If you season the topper with canola or low flash point oil in the oven, your house will fill up with a thick layer of oil smoke. Consider doing this outside in the grill on low heat.

Cast iron, so yes, it's heavy
I've used this grill topper several times. My grill grates are too wide spaced for me, so I bought this. I've used it for veggies, fish and chicken. It delivers great flavor and is reasonably easy to clean, and it prevents any food from dropping through. However, it is very heavy (as advertised). I didn't think the weight would bother me, but I have to pass through 2 doors to get from grill to kitchen. This is very heavy and extremely hot. I bring it in on a cookie sheet, but it slides around and I risk burning myself. I could leave it on the grill and just bring in the food, but I live where there are bears am afraid I'd forget it. Storage is a bit of an issue for me as well. It seems very well made and does what it's made to do, but I'm not sure this will be a keeper for me.

It's Lodge--need I say more?!
In recent years, I have become a fan of cast iron cookware, and Lodge has amazing products, well-made and unlike the latest "As Seen On TV," cast iron is built to last and unlike the nonstick stuff (which we only find out later that it's toxic to us and our environment), I know it's safe (Lodge has been around since the late-1800s, I believe) and easy to care for (buy the cast iron soap & oil, and get a handled brush for cleaning cast iron). This particular Lodge item has made a great addition to my grill accessories! It's large, the perforations are small enough to keep my food from falling through and I am in love with it! I have tried other products and they're difficult to get clean again, but this cast iron is easy-peasy! A+++++

Appears to be well made. A replacement for ceramic 20 yr old grates. Haven’t used yet.

Best grill pan ever
Today for the first time since I bought this beauty, I was skeptical but as soon I put on the hamburger paddies, it was almost like I was dealing with a nonstick. It formed a wondaful crust and my husband said he never had such a tasty hamburger. I did let the grill pan heat up well and put only a small coting of oil . Best grill pan I have ever bought, and we are married for 45 years! Love lodge products !!
