Attractive but lacking quality

This turner looks very nice but after one use and hand wash the bamboo is splitting where pieces were joined/glued together. It is not a single solid piece of bamboo. I don’t think this will hold up long to daily cooking. I thought this would be an upgrade to the four dollar bag of bamboo utensils I got at a home goods store but those have lasted more than 2 years they just aren’t as ‘pretty’.

Parts started coming out after 10-12 uses only

It’s like a toy, if you use it in actual cooking, it will start coming out after a few uses/cleaning. This was the photo taken yestrday, today this turner has become even more narrower.

Handy no-scratch tool

I received the KitchenAid Universal Bamboo Short Turner, One size, Wood in exchange for this review. Initial impressions of this bamboo turner were mixed. It is rather small with a shorter than average handle, but the leading edge was decently thin, so I thought it would "work". We used it to make French Toast on a nonstick electric griddle. Though the turner's base was smaller than I usually expect one to be, it flipped the standard size bread pieces easily, the leading edge slipped under the food easily and since it is a bamboo product, the turner gradually gets thicker as the "blade" heads towards the handle end. This is actually helpful since it lifts the food up and enable s a fast, neat turning action. I used it the next day for making grilled pastrami and swiss cheese sandwiches and was again impressed with how well this tool works. I could also see this working perfectly in my wok when making stir fry. Like any other wooden/bamboo utensil, it is best to hand wash it instead of putting it in the dishwasher, but that is not hard. Overall, I would highly recommend this tool if you are looking for a good sturdy replacement for a flimsy plastic turner to use on your nonstick pans.
