You get what you pay for.
If you are buying this as a keep-the-child-inside-the-window guard, you will probably be basically satisfied with the results. The construction is barely strong enough for that purpose, and the assembly is marginal. On the unit I received (fairly on time, one day late) the screw holes were not lined up very well, and one was even drilled right on the edge of the flange, so that it wasn't even surrounded completely by metal, but the hole met the edge. The screws that it comes with are not security screws, but normal phillips heads. They show an example of using a padlock to keep the hinge shut, but the hole provided for one is so close to the windowsill that you will have trouble fitting the shackle through it. Installation for me was fairly easy and straightforward... after I fiddled with it a bit and dry fit everything. So long as you have a decent drill / driver, you'll be OK. As a security / theft deterrent, they are pretty much for decoration. Of course, nothing will stop a determined thief, and at best ANY bars are a time delay, but these wouldn't be much of one. That said, they do serve as a visual deterrent, and I will probably buy one more set for another small window that isn't much of a risk anyway. If you want to use them as security bars AND need a quick emergency egress release, you will probably need to come up with your own, as what is provided with the product is inadequate for this purpose. These are about 1/4 the cost of the security bars that I plan to buy for the large windows in my house, so I bought one to check it out for fit & function. As the old saying goes... you get what you pay for. Chinese craftsmanship at its averagest.

Strong enough for my grandchildren safety!!
I like these bars made of iron but does not impede my views. I got the 4 bars intially but they were too low so I got the 8 bars ones and it's perfect!! Items are made of iron, white which has a clean look to it. Once we figured out how to install them outside the sliding windows so we can closed them if needed, it was a breeze to install them. I live in high-rise building and these will give me peace of mind. We screwed them in tight since we're not going to jump out of the windows if fire breaks out God forbid!! Highly recommend!! We had to buy our own screws to fit our needs as the ones included were too long!! Excellent delivery services and no problems with returning 2 of them as I bought too many!! Great company!!

Works as expected. Barely..
We bought this to secure one of our upstairs windows so that my daughter would not fall through the screen when it was open. Pros: *Can swing open *Can stretch and fit many different window sizes. Cons *Instruction where not clear. I can usually figure out how to construct things with out an issue. I had to get a second opinion from my wife before I drilled any holes just to be sure I was doing it correctly. *This would not stop someone from breaking in. It just isn't strong enough and can be pushed through with enough force. It should make someone think twice though. It works for our application fine. *The more it is stretched open the less secure it is.

Guard more for deterrence than fail-safe security
Just received 3 of these #1133 Window Guards, 3 bar model, and did not receive any mounting screws or bolts. Contacted Amazon who then contacted the manufacturer. Was told that screws are not included with this model. This is a major inconvenience as I now need to go to the hardware store for the appropriate mounting screws. Note that the 4 bar and 6 bar models do include mounting screws. Bars appear to be sturdy, but a determined thief could eventually kick this unit in. This product is more for deterrence than failsafe security. Update: In followup with Amazon, another rep. said that the screws should have been included. However, Amazon reps cannot resolve issues with the manufacturers, only their own distribution centers. I was offered a total refund requiring shipping guards back, or take a $30 credit to purchase screws (took this option). I used 3" decking screws to secure the guards, using a 1/8 " bit to pre-drill the hole. Overall satisfaction with Amazon resolution is good. Still believe these guards are not going to stop a determined crook, as they can be kicked in and bent out of the way with a little force.

Awesome product
Easy to install, pretty sturdy, I installed these on my back two windows of my detached garage and it makes me feel good knowing that my stuff is safe from break inns thru my windows now, great buy for your money.

Solid construction
I purchased this for the outside of my garage door window. Primarily to deter any potential theft. Dual side key dead bolt, security film and this should keep people out in my opinion. At the lease break a window and reach in to realize they need a key to unlock from the inside as well but most important they cannot climb in either. I suppose if they really wanted to get in they could. It's thick and sturdy and I wouldn't question the integrity of the unit itself more the door material but either way it would make a lot of noise which will attract attention from myself or neighbors.
