Great temp controllers
Keeps the heat mats at the perfect temp for germination and growing of plants using them to start garden seeds in side in cold basement! Works great planning on buying more!

Digital thermostat for heat mat
This is an additional item for my heat mat. Pretty straightforward and works fairly well. Heat doesn’t quite reach what you set it at but overall works.

New? ...NOT! BUT, easy peasy operation & Great Customer Service
I ordered a NEW Thermostat controller, but received an obviously USED & ABUSED unit (DIMPLED LCD power light, DEEP SCRATCHES, SMUDGED & SOILED (food or ??? – yuck!). After submitting requested personal purchase information & a copy of the Amazon receipt by email to iPower, I was immediately sent a replacement – not soiled, although still also somewhat scratched on the face. I’m very satisfied with the cordial & responsive Customer Service. What a pleasure & surprise to not be forced to fight for what I’ve been promised or paid for! So far, after less than one week of use, this thermostat is super simple to use & has performed as represented by the seller/manufacturer. I have a surge protector plugged into the unit controlling power to a large pet heat mat (cat/dog hard plastic design, 90Watts), along with a large heated bird perch (Toucan sized, 9Watts), set at 40 degrees F, used in a 4 cubic ft, insulated chicken coop. The design of the thermostat control unit afforded easy attachment to a convenient, weather protected upright beam on the exterior of the coop. The sensor is dangling in a protected, screened-in area in a lower corner of the enclosed coop. My thermostat is successfully reading ambient air temps in the area of the sensor. The unit’s ‘heating’ light & temperature LCD display indicates that the thermostat opens the circuit at about 39-40 degrees & the two mentioned appliances do indeed provide heat as long as it is colder than 40 degrees. It closes the circuit at about 40-42 degrees, preventing over-heating of the enclosure & eliminating unnecessary electric consumption. I can imagine this little ‘heat’ thermostat being valuable in a wide range of applications where open circuitry is reliant on a specified heat requirement of a specific area. [Obviously, for ‘cooling’ purposes, opposite circuitry would be necessary & a ‘cooling thermostat’ required.] This thermostat simply opens & closes the electric circuit (power to) the ‘plug in’ receptacle molded into the unit’s bottom, according to the one (1) temperature you digitally ‘set’ & is ‘read’ by the specifically positioned sensor ... designed to control power supply based on a ‘near’ temperature (2-3 degree variance) to a specific appliance (more than one appliance if using a multi-plug adapter or surge protector) within ‘total’ safe amp/watt limits. The plug receptor on the unit will even accept a large gooseneck type outdoor 3-way adapter without interfering with the sensor line or power input cords, but this method may prove to be too heavy & susceptible to dislodging. This unit allows my heating appliances to operate (use power) when needed – NOT CONSTANTLY! 24 hr or high constant temp designed heat sources (appliances, such as mine) could cause over-heating & stressing of my cold acclimated hens – not to mention, wasting my time & electricity. Here, in an already frigid (Sept), high altitude, this unit seems to be the solution to better management of my time, as well as (most importantly) safe, happy, healthy & cool (but not frozen) chickens! If it continues to operate with the current (admittedly short term) consistency & quality, this thermostat is a winner! If not, I’ll be back with another honest update & change in ‘coop accommodations!’

Very nice product, sturdy construction
My only issue is the red light display, should be green.

The sensor isn't that great
I have bought these before with no issues until a few months down the road. I use them for a couple of my snake racks in our quarantine room and usually they do well..but these that I just purchased are not so great. They are not reading the temps accurately, therefor I have to set the temps to about 8 degrees higher than I want the tape to be. This scares me because I worry they will decide to spike the temps randomly when we are not home. We are converting over to ambient in the next couple months, so as long as they last until then, we will be fine. I recommended these at one point, and I still do...but only if you're using them to regulate heat mats for plants, dubia roaches, or maybe geckos like cresties, tokays, and other sticky fingered geckos/frogs. Not the worst, but I have had better. Not too thrilled this go round. This has actually caused a couple of my snakes to get RI, which can also be deadly. I have experience and the equipment and was able to treat them to get them cured without spending thousands on vet bills, but others may not be so lucky. A quick calibration on the temp monitoring sensor may help with this issue.

Very easy to use
Once you get it set to either temperature measure you want to use it’s extremely easy to setup. Now I do want to mention I’m using this for an under tank heat mat in a gecko terrarium. So far everything is working as it should and it keeps pretty good track of the temp where the heat mat is at as long as you have the thermal probe placed correctly. The click of a relay can be heard when it kicks on too which brings me to my only two real gripes about this thing. This is a simple On/Off thermostat that turns on and off intermittently like the AC thermostat in your house instead of adjusting the power accordingly to keep temp constant. It’s not mentioned on the product page that’s this is an On/Off thermostat only though given the price I should have known better. My other concern is the temperature swings quite a bit before it turns on. Once it reaches the set temperature and shuts off, the temperature will drop by around 5 degrees before it turns back on again. That’s quite a swing. Otherwise though no complaints and it works as intended.

Works fine
I'm not sure just how accurate these are, but annoyingly they won't turn on when 2 degrees under the limit. I'd still but again (I already did). I haven't had any major annoyances.

Excellent mat for the price
I am a budding flower farmer, and needed to stretch my dollar as far as I can. These mats were a good choice. I started out with two a month ago, but liked them well enough, I have added two more to the set. Looking at what I still have to do, I will add probably one more to ensure I have enough. I will not hesitate to buy this brand once more. They do an excellent job of maintaining the seed trays at 70 degrees in my 55-60 degree unheated basement. I do use a temp control with them. Four of them cover a 4x8 sheet of plywood perfectly. You can squeeze a fifth tray on the pad, but I am not sure how well the edge trays may stay warm, so I would not put the seeds that have to stay the warmest on the outside. They are durable, and I did have a tray with a significant leak, get water all over on one of them, and had no issues. If you are looking at a relatively dependable mat, without having to spend tons of money, then this is the one! I do recommend getting the controller for seed starting, to ensure that you can maintain the temperature manually. Even with the controller, they are still an economical choice.

Great budget thermostat
I'm using 4 of these with radiant heat panels for my snakes. They let the temperature drop 1°C, then bring it up to the set temperature, so temperatures are pretty constant. I was worried that an on/off thermostat like this might put the heat panels on full blast to bring the temperatures up, but since it only allows 1 degree of fluctuation the panels only ever get up to about half of their max temperature. This gives me great peace of mind for the safety of my animals. They also remember their last settings after a power outage, so there's no worry about resetting them. My only complaint with these is how the wiring is set up. No matter what, it's always going to look horribly messy, especially with multiple thermostats going. I would also prefer removable cables so that they could be replaced if they wear out or are damaged in some way, but for the price it's not too bad. Oh, and the suction cup is completely useless. I didn't need it anyway, but anyone hoping to use it should know that it does not adhere to anything.

Can be used with heat mats/lamps for reptiles without problems.
Although this is for seed germination I've been using this with a heat map with my Kenyan sand boa for about a month now and I've had no problems with it. I also use similar ones for my leopard geckos and my corn snake for over 3 years. The ones for seed germination work just as well as the ones branded for reptile use and depending on the brand there are as cheap as a quarter of the price of the ones for reptiles.

Using for reptile
Bought to use with my leopard gecko's under tank heater. Been using for about 8 months now without issue. Reads accurately with my temp gun, and I've never had an issue with the suction cups holding the probe in place. Much less expensive than UTH marketed specifically for reptiles, and does the exact same thing.

good quality case and hardware
Pros: Conforms to UL, CSA, and ETL standards; maintains 1 degree temperature accuracy; durable, good quality case and hardware; simple to operate; great value. Cons: Wish the sensor had a connector, rather than hard-wired. I actually read about the product's safety certifications on another website, before purchase, and then confirmed via the sticker on the back of the unit. It's strange that Amazon does not mention the certifications, to me it is very important. The only improvement I would like to see is a removable (via plug) thermocouple sensor, but it's OK at this price.

Works Great
I originally bought this in combination with my 10/20 grow mat as they seem to run a little too hot for seed propagation and worked very good for controlling them. My wife now uses it for wine making during fermentation and just to keep it at a constant temperature but wrapping the grow mat around the fermentation tub and a towel and placing the temperature controller in the brew and it's work fantastic. I can see using this for other heating devices and other uses, i.e. heat lamps for brooding chicks, reptile tanks etc.
