Great for steaming vegetables an hubby loves it for steaming hot dogs and buns.
Sturdy , easy to clean, perfect for 1-2 servings of steamed veggies .

great! but this is only half of the story
Well designed and made, reliable function and durability, can be used as a strainer basket for washing fruits, vegetables and some grains, all of that is included with the small Instant Pot steamer basket and I can easily give it a two thumbs up rating. But to more fully explore what the Instant Pot can do with steaming, get the Official set of two steamer baskets including a larger one and this small one. This small one fits snugly into the larger one and both can be used at the same time – or – partially steam something requiring a longer steaming time, turn off the heat, when cooled enough to handle put the other basket containing something requiring less steaming time into the steamer, and then resume steaming. And because one basket fits into the other they store reasonably compactly.

This DOES NOT fit the Instant Pot Plus Mini (3 QT)
I regret not reading all the questions/comments/reviews before buying this item. SO SAD that it does NOT fit the 3 QT Instant Pot Plus Mini. It fits into the inner pot, but the cover/lid will not engage & this causes steam to escape from the sides & the IP will never pressurize, which causes everything to burn. This had such potential & I wanted to love it, but now I need to return it and find something that *will* fit.

Not as advertised.
The photos show this basket as 6.1" high but that seem to be the handle height and not the basket. The basket with feet is 3.5" high and the basket itself only about 3" deep.

It’s a great product
It’s best to wash in the dishwasher but it’s great for steaming and the right mesh for straining rice. I’ve been very pleased with this insert.

Sticky rice
I purchased this piece mainly to make steamed sticky rice. The mesh is fine enough that the damp rice stays put before it starts cooking. Unfortunately that same finer mesh benefit is a pain to clean when making sticky rice. It's a breeze for other things like vegetables.
