Washable Water Filter

Great clean water filter

I use this filter to replace a Hydronix one micron carbon block filter. I had a Hydronix SPC-45-2005 five micron filter ahead of the carbon block filter (CBF) but particulates smaller than five microns clogged the carbon block so that the flow was very low within a few weeks and the CBF filter had to be replaced. This is expensive so I put this one micron filter in place of the five micron filter and removed the CBF. The result: this one micron Hydronix provides high flow and the water is as clean as it was with the CBF. Granted this filter may not remove volitile organic compounds (VOC's) and sub-micron biological organisms (BIO's) but those are not a problem in my water which comes from a deep aquifer. If I do need VOC and BIO filtering I can put a CBF in the CBF housing and it will last much longer than before. After a month of use of the Hydronix one micron filter, the water is running fast, clear, and has no odor. I have a clear filter housing (BTW, well worth the money) and can see that the water on the source side of the filter is slightly cloudy when viewed with a light beam -- demonstrating that the filter is effectively preventing those micron particulates from reaching the filter outflow. When the filter was first installed microscopic air bubbles that were trapped in the filter material made the water appear cloudy for a while. After a few days of normal household water use the bubbles no longer appeared in the water from the filter. In summary these are well built and durable washable filters so in the long run are a bargain deal. I use two and swap them out when they need to be cleaned and then clean the one taken out for the next swap.

Good quality

This 1 micron 10x4.5” filter has 45 double pleats. Seems well constructed. Measured height is 9-5/8”. Recommend that a small amount of food grade plumbing grease be applied to one end of the housing contact surface to prevent twisting or binding when the filter housing to tightened. Labeled as made in China
