We now own 2!
We found our first of these at a garage sale 5 years ago when our oldest was a newborn. We loved it so much that we bought another when we were expecting our second baby! Love this sound machine!

Great noise machine.
We have used this every night since we bought it. We even got smart and took it along on vacation since it is so little, light and easy to take along. It helped us get a good nights sleep in the hotels we stayed in.

Not enough volume!
So disappointed with this. The volume limit is way to low! I’ve had a portable homedics in the past and it was plenty loud so not an excuse for this. It’s ok but nothing close to what I was expecting.

Great sound machine
This is the third one of these that we have owned. My 8 year old twins have used them since they were born and still love them at night. We started with an older model with a turn dial Later bought this model too. The turn dial one was finally starting to give out so we bought another one of this model to replace it. They have lots of options for different sounds.

Great noise blocker
This is a great sound machine to drown out any annoying noises. My husband and I sleep well using this every night. It plugs into a wall outlet and it will run all night if you choose which is what we do. A person can also put batteries in it if power is off or if it needs to be made portable. The volume is easy to adjust and the sound choices are great. We like the white noise the best. This is a wonderful product for the price.

5 Years and Still Going Strong!
** UPDATE: It’s been five years now, and my original review below still holds true. Incredible product! ** I purchased this noise machine to replace another brand in 2017. We use it every night for both of our children, and it has been foolproof. It has a battery backup that automatically kicks in if the power goes out, which has been very helpful in ensuring continued noise. It also has a timer option for auto shut-off. Lots of options for sounds - we prefer the white noise, rain, or thunder. The volume has a great range from very low (less than a fan) to very loud (drowns out the noise from the highway). I'm impressed with the quality and durability of this little machine. It's been dropped, has traveled with us, and has stood the test of time with two toddlers. If it ever does stop working, we definitely got our money's worth and will re-order.

Buy the knob options instead
I have the other version that the volume is controlled with a dial. It is superior because this one I find too loud or too quiet for my needs. Also, the buttons are loud when you push them. My biggest gripe with this brand is that when the power goes out and comes back in they automatically go to a specific sound - like summer noises or something - instead of the setting you had it on. Always wakes my toddler up asking wtf those noises are as it's not his usual setting. Try the one with the knob if you're going to use this brand. Downside is the one with the knob had the knob break in the past (I bought a new one though because price is okay).

Avoid this one.
If you are looking for a white noise or nature sounds machine then look elsewhere. The nature sound recordings on this machine had a background static, scratchy sound to them. It was worse on the ocean sounds and best on the rains sounds. I actually bought it for the white noise producing option, but the white noise is a recording that plays on a loop. Every time it loops there is a noticeable hitch that interrupts the white noise produced and quickly got on my nerves. There is also something wrong with the volume control. It goes from too low (doesn't block any sounds) to way to high (loud enough to make it impossible to create an ambient background for sleep) in one push of a button. Add in that annoying hitch and it was too much, so I returned it and bought something else.

Sleep aid with bright blue led :/
Whoever decided to put a bright blue led on the top of this thing def did not think it through. If I need help with sleep, last thing I want is a light in my face in a dark room. Volume control needs work, big jumps with increments. A plus for battery, but not enough to overcome. Will be returning it.

They Blue It
Disappointing product. With two kids we've gone through our fair share of sound machines, and this one comes in at the bottom of our list. If you enjoy dozing off while feeling like you're in the blue light district then this one is for you. Poor design called for a very very bright blue indicator light that illuminates the whole room when the unit is turned on. I removed it from the baby's room and took it into our room as my snoring was affecting our marriage. I had high hopes that the HoMedics could save us but I think this unit has done more harm than good and my wife would rather hear the snoring than be basked in the HoMedic's cruel blue glow. An additional qualm is that the volume control has very little precision. It jumps from very low to very loud. Like that shy person you know who tries drinking for the first time. Anyways, far better white noise machines on the market than the HoMedics
