there is NO saucer to catch the drainage

My mother lives in a retirement community and the rules say, "all potted plants MUST have a saucer" well, THIS planter has NO saucer ... at least thats what my take was when I call the sales rep for Ca and he said he was TOO BUSY to answer me, then told me he doesnt know, and hung up. I wish I knew this before purchase .... these are NOT cost effective to ship back Poorly written description, poor customer service and poor communication skills, but YES ... they DO hold dirt!

Excellent pot for small trees

This is a very large pot, perfect for growing semi-dwarf fruit trees on our patio. It's attractive (it looks like granite) and light enough to handle fairly easily (not when filled with soil, obviously). I needed a pot I could use with a drip watering system, and although I love wooden planters, they don't always last when kept constantly moist. Since this pot is plastic, I expect it to be quite durable. It doesn't have pre-drilled drainage holes, but it has indentations that you can drill out in a few seconds for good drainage. (It says to drill or PUNCH out the holes--I didn't want to take a chance on cracking the pot, so I used a 1/2 inch drill bit made for drilling wood and it worked perfectly.) If you need an attractive pot for a small tree, this is a reasonably-priced solution.

Love this company's planters

I have more than 50 containers on my (big!) terrace and probably half of them are by Akro Mils. This one is up to their usual standard -- sturdy material, handsome classic design with unobtrusive feet that raise it off the terrace floor for drainage. (Nice not to have to jack it up with bricks.) This big boy is destined to hold a new Japanese maple, and I expect it to perform as well as the others. Note that this does not come with pre-drilled and plugged bottom holes as some do. But it only takes five minutes to drill the holes, so no complaint.

Long lasting and attractive

I have several of these planters and have used them for growing my Boxwood topiaries. This planter has “feet” that keep the bottom of the planter elevated and this keeps the roots of the plant from being exposed to winter temperatures. You will have to drill drainage holes in the bottom as they are not pre-drilled. Good, durable planter and is aesthetically attractive.

Big, sturdy, well designed pot

This pot is sturdy and heavy. There was one tap-out -hole for drainage. I drilled many more because I live in a rainy area and root rot is common. Also spray painted it to achieve a deeper black. Overall I'm very satisfied.
