Fjederstrammeren justeres alt efter, hvor hårdt og dybt mærket skal være. Værktøjet er lavet af en hel stål krop, spidserne er hærdet stål. Udskiftning af den slidte spids er let, da både originalen og udskiftningen er gevind.

The Point Is Moot
It's just a simple thing, but you can't live without it if your automatic center punch is missing its point. This tip fits a 40-year-old General automatic center punch with 3-56 threads. The fit is loose, but the tip can be tightened adequately by hand, and it doesn't come loose too often in operation. The tip is not hardened. The company, General, manufactures these in India at the moment. The tips aren't as good as the original tips that were made by General before they outsourced manufacturing all over the place. The threaded part is not as long and there is no shoulder above the thread like on the original tips, so the fit isn't as secure. The threads are also a little undersized. I have dozens of the old tips and punches that I have compared this to. I guess it's hard to supervise production when you can't remember where you put your factories.

3-56 thread, also fits Starrett 18-A
There is little real info provided here, so I ordered it anyway to find out for myself if it would fit my old Starrett 18-A. It fits! The thread is a 3-56 which is the same as the Starrett and the tip geometry is exactly the same. The Starrett had a ground finish while this has a black oxide finish, but that's not critical. Will update after using this for a while regarding how hard the point is. The point of a center punch should be *very* hard, but often they are not.

Purchased as a backup Center Punch Point.
It important to the have an accurate impression for the drill. I have both of the automatic center punches from General Tool. When your prototyping your idea for a "better mouse trap" you want the first prototype to work. You need to start with an excellent center drill impression. Thanks for asking!
